Airport travel

I am planning to fly to another state with about 10 1-oz gold coins. I was just going to carry them in my handbag. Anyone done this and any thoughts about TSA, if they would have an issue.

There shouldn't be any issue. Bring them in your carry on bag and if TSA wants to see the content, ask for a private screening.
I have brought several silver/gold ounces internationally and nobody ever asked me to open the bag.

There shouldn't be a problem; however, large metal objects usually attract their attention. So just be prepared to take them out of your handbag. I used to bring back rolls of quarters from the west coast (just two at a time). After they asked to search my bag a few times, I just started putting them directly into the plastic bin. That made the problem go away.

I have flown with multiple gold coins several times with no problem. They did tell me once that I had way too much change (regular change) in my carryon, it was obscuring the view of other items in the bag. Cheers, RickO

Within the US, there is no limit.

If it crosses the US border, going or coming, there is no limit but anything over $10,000 must be declared. That declaration can lead to other questions.
