Nice one! It has great surfaces, although I think the grade is a little optimistic. I love that date and MM and can only hope to own one someday.

I thought this was going to be a Morgan. I like yours much better than a Morgan.

Very nice. It's tough to find a problem-freem circulated 78-CC Trade dollar. I like it.

Very nice - curiously one of about 2-3 type coins I have never owned an example of, the other being a shield nickel and a 20c piece.

That coin bears a startling resemblance to the very first Trade dollar I ever owned.

PCI put mine in a green label VF35 holder (this alone should tell you how long ago that was). NGC later XF40-ed it.

Mine had the same color and look, but was an 1875-CC. Of course it was a much more common date than yours.

Great pickup! I don't blame you for tuckin' that one away.

Zounds! Even if I submitted nothing but circulated pocket change zincolns, and the TPGs had a special "Dollar Daze" $1.00 submission rate, I doubt I could afford the grading fees, let alone the coins! image

Sure will be fun to see how they do, though, eh? image

Thanks everyone for the compliments on my trade $.

Also Lance must of stuttered - I had 69 coins in for grading not 699. I was waiting for 2 months for the economy part and they finally hit yesterday

image Love trade dollars... I just don't like to hype them up too much because of you know who and you know who and you know who is collecting them, too image

    *** OLD THREAD WARNING ***

....but I had to show my 1878-CC chopmarked Trade dollar too. It is also in a graded PCGS VF35 holder. I traced 9 total graded ones (8 PCGS and 1 NGC), and have attributed the die pairs of 7 of them. The OP one here is the more common one, if four examples is at all common. The one with the far right shifted mint mark is twice as rare, with two represented. Mine is the only example of another die pair. The last of four die pairs I have catalogued for the date has none of which I am aware.

CC Trade dollars, with a chop or two, are great collectibles. I have shown mine here many times before. A favorite among my coins. Cheers, RickO

You're lucky since I was in the process of pulling trigger on BIN when you snagged it. Or maybe I'm the lucky one, given the price ;)
