AU details / cleaned. I think I can see hairlines on the obverse. The color is not deep enough for my tastes. That being said, I have always wanted to own an 1854-S gold coin. There are no 1854-S silver coins of any denomination.

I think the cheek hit is par for the course for a mid 19th century, west coast $10 gold coin. Heavy coins, soft metal, brutal lives riding around on horseback out west....

Just curious, where do you see the damage? Perhaps the dig on Miss Liberty's cheek?

I would buy it for under $1000. It is more interesting to me than the similarly priced Canadian hoard coins (as a comp).
RYK's is beautiful!
