Nickel roll searching finds

erwindocerwindoc Posts: 5,452 ✭✭✭✭✭
I routinely looks through boxes of nickels with my oldest kid and we enjoy trying to fill Whitman albums. We have several in various stages of completion and various grades. Just finishing up on the latest box and thought Id share what we found that was a bit unusual from the pre-60s keepers and the occasional Canadian nickel. We came up with some unusual world coin stuff this time including a 5c euro from Germany and 20 pence from the UK. I initially thought Id found a nickel stamped on a 1 cent before I pulled it out of the roll.

Good luck on your own searching!

One of the strangest finds I discovered going through a roll of later date Mercs was an 1865 3 Cent Nickel in F to VF. I didn't know that they were about the same diameter.

Roll finds seem to be increasing lately, - or maybe it is my imagination..... but several recent posts have been noted. Cheers, RickO

I think the holiday season brought out more interesting finds. More piggy banks and older hoards are getting sent to the bank and making their way back into circulation.
