Just had a pleasant experience ordering from Provident Metals

Picked up a little bit of 2012 dated silver for my little girl that's to be born in December. Wanted to do a diverse birth year silver set for when she gets older. The folks on the phone were very pleasant and helpful. I cruised around on their website before and during ordering. I picked up:

2- Silver Eagles
2- Britannias
1- Cougar Maple Leaf
1- Maple Leaf
1- Koala Perth Mint
1- Autrian Philharmonic

All of these were cheaper than the 'bay (even with free shipping) where I picked up 2- Pandas, a Mexico Libertad, and 2- extra Britannias, mostly from ModernCoinMart.

I should have never started this set, because now I have a fever for ALL of the Britannias. image They are pretty coins.

    Congrats Wes!!

That is gonna be a great set! I was thinking to do the same with my first born but then switched to the Lunar set.

I miss my Britannia set, I had them all from 1998 to 2010. Great designs and finishing.
You can't miss the set below if you want to be a serious collector! image Just teasing you...

Speaking of ProvidentMetal, I can only say good things about them. Great price and service.
I don't even mind waiting the couple of week paying by check given their good prices!

    Again, congrats!!

Thanks guys. I was pondering the Fuji Turtle and the Armenian Noah's Ark and actually bid on a few on ebay buy ending up losing them because I didn't want to pay what they were bringing that much over spot.

I did bid on a few different "Year of the Dragon" ones but ended up being outbid. I might pickup one a little later at a show or something if they're cheaper.

Matteo, yeah, I saw that set. Maybe someday, but I have to buy a stockpile of diapers now. Coining is about to come to an abrupt halt I'm afraid. image

Luvs Diapers on Amazon.com are the cheapest...according to my wife...image

A Kookaburra would fit well in that set, though the 2012 is now demanding a high premium.

and Luvs don't leak, unlike our experience with Huggies...granted this is a few years ago.

Great set you are building for your daughter, Wes!
  • Wes, do you have a way in mind to display the set?
I used a nice wooden case for my sets, though yours will be bigger and heavier.

I do some woodworking on the side, so I thought about building a velvet lined custom walnut shadowbox to hand on her wall. Got to start her off early lookin' at coins if I'm gonna raise a 'lil coin collector!

I just found 2- PCGS MS69 First Strike Kookaburras on the 'bay. $99 shipped. That should be it for now....unless I find a cheap Dragon.
