Opinions, Cross over To PCGS?? 1812 O.101

I have this ANACS VF30 1812 O.101 and I'd like your opinions about sending it out to PCGS
to be crossed over into one of their slabs. It would be worth more $$$ in a PCGS slab when it
comes time to sell. Your thoughts... TIA Harvey

What are PCGS 20/25/30's with the same O# selling for? Are you a ton of $$$ into it and how quick are you looking to sell? Do you want to put another $25 or so dollars in it?

Try listing it in that slab at what you want for it first. The few old ANACS like that that I listed at PCGS price guide prices sold. They were Walkers I had from long ago.

I would be hard pressed to grade that coin higher than VF-20. The reverse is better, but that does not matter. The obverse looks like a "Fine-18."

I don't think that it will cross as a VF-30.

Nice coin. I have always had good results crossing old small anacs to PCGS....some even upgraded.

I cross because I want to put them in the Rgeistry. If not just keep it as is.

I think it would cross at VF-20 to 25.

Just my opinion, but I think a PCGS VF-20 of this coin is worth more in the marketplace than an ANACS VF-30.

But of course, it's your coin, and your decision.

IMHO, it wouldn't cross at that grade... and I've attempted/succeeded in crossing many circulated Capped Bust halves.

It'd definitely make it in a VF20 holder. It has a slim shot at 25.

Nice coin, by the way. I'd be happy to own an example of that overdate in any grade!

I think the higher value is more a component of finding 2 bidders at the right time, than the right holder any time.

  • I think that PCGS would probably grade it VF20 since they put more weight
on the obverse. I'm going to have to decide if I think its better off in a PCGS holder
as a VF20 or in its ANACS holder as a VF30. I bought it in 1999 for under $4500
so I would still be ahead no matter what I decided to do....

Thanks to all for their opinions...

If you every plan to sell it I would cross it over to PCGS or NGC. Many CBH's collectors would love to have this in their registry. Me included.image

  • That's a killer coin that will cross no problems and should make VF25, very very nice

    What a great CBH!

I was just looking at some on coinfacts and it looks to be very close in condition to the VF25 posted there.

I like the look of your ANACS coin, even more than the PCGS VF35 that has been posted.
