The roll has at least been opened on both ends. I would bet they all have been examined and put back in.

  • I don't believe in unopened rolls, mint sets or proof sets. I'm starting to have my doubts about the tooth fairy and Easter bunny too.

    No.

Well..................it may be original but it's also been opened and closed.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

Does that paper even look correct for the time frame?

Looks too recent for that to be an original 53 roll.
  • Absolutely not.

PT Barnum is frequently proven right.
  • Notice how the seller doesn't list the buzzword often found in these types of listing, "Original" anywhere to be found in the title. Should be a sign right there

No. Paper like that would tone the end coins at least a little bit over the course of almost 60 years. These end coins are bright white.

Cannot say 100% sure that it's NOT an original bank rolled short stack, but the one I was handed one time, said 'Half Dollars' and not 'Halves' like this one does...may not mean a danged thing, but this one is not even centered on the coins. I would be very leery of the claims made.

I was curious but not tempted. The paper fibers look too new, although I thought the crimping looked like the old style that was used on halves. That can be replicated, I'm sure.

However, now that I look again I don't ever recall orange printing on any rolls from that era.

I was leery of the dark photos, as well.

    Thanks for the comments, guys.

these have been re-rolled. on both ends.

Since they are silver, I don't blame whoever for not wanting to punch from one end.

I'll bet you need real cubans to properly re-roll them.
