I love this denomination and collect them. I have many favorites, but this one is among them due to its humble grade (VF35) that packs a colorful punch.

Today I have in my hand this 1965 SP66CAM half dollar (which I posted twice on 6-8-2022).
It is one of my favorite half dollars, primarily because it has thick snow white frost on the devices and deep, black mirrored fields (very, very unusual on a 1965 SMS half).
I think it is a candidate for receiving a DCAM designation and may just send it to our host again for a second trip through the grading room.
This was CAC green stickered long after I purchased it back in 1997. CAC has a pop of 1 in MS-66. None in MS-67.
The luster is amazing for an early walker. Jack Lee was known for his silver dollar collection but his walker collection was also second to none. Only one bag mark can be found on the obverse and it is on Liberty's leg. None in the obverse fields and none on the reverse. Sorry, the photo is lousy.
The 1795 Flowing Hair Half Dollar is my favorite 50 cent piece because it took me 50 years to find it. I had long wanted a type coin for this slot which looked like this. The trouble was, when I found one, the price was far more than I could pay.
This coin is graded EF-45, and it was the best I could find and afford.
The higher grade piece is graded AU-58. Fortunately it flunked at CAC. If it had not, I could not have afforded it. This coin is an Overton 120, and the finest known for the variety, which is rated an R-6. The second finest known is an EF details because of cleaning.
This coin has had a higher grade. At one time it was in an NGC MS-62 holder. It has sold at auction for more than I paid for it. So you see that pricing for coins can go down many roads.
I like this coin because of the look, not the rarity of the variety. I'm sure than some day it will find a home with a dedicated Overton half dollar die variety colllector who will appreciate it for both.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
It turns out I have two favorites. I posted my Barber Proof above.
I am very grateful to have picked this out of a Details holder.
I have said this before elsewhere, but there has to be some middle ground in grading if one particular bruise near the rim can drop a coin about 6 grades and destroy 90% of its value. (While graders have no problem with a weak strike from worn dies. ) But, it let me have this coin, even though I feel the person who submitted it for grading was poorly abused.

Well-worn with few scratches, but for me the die breaks make up for it. Also a pretty rare "small head" marriage.

1795/1795 Recut O-111 3 leaf...my only Flowing Hair of anything. No privy marks, just a recut and an extra leaf!
If only it could talk...the things it must have saw in circulation... All half dollars are awesome!
Posting again to this thread.

At the moment its a toss up between these 2 for my favorite:
Great thread, great coins! Never really thought about what half dollar is my favorite before ... maybe this one?

I’d say these two. F15 CAC (the 1824) and VF30 CACG (the 1830). Lots of luster on the VF.

Wow! Some amazing half dollars posted!!

Posted this before in another thread…. It’s not my highest graded nor most valuable CBH, but it is my favorite! Always pined for this overdate, too.
