As a seller on the BST and elsewhere, I must disagree with some about "having lives outside of the forum." I tend to sell junk silver lots on the BST and anybody who has bought those or even a graded coin have always been met with satisfaction from me. Prompt timely responses will earn the trust of all customers, even someone going by the moniker of devious on the forum. TeeHee! If you are going to sell something, be timely in your delivery of communications and make clear all details and do not leave the customer hanging. They are your priority once you have received their money. No excuses!!!

I totally agree.
Being self-employed all my life, you realize customer service is key to existing in the business world.
The reasoning "having lives outside the forum" probably comes from a person who has never been self-employed.

I agree. I just had a guy who I have no prior relationship with and don't know on the BST ask me to ship several thousand dollars of coins to the opposite coast and BTW, he'll kindly pay me after they arrive. Oh, and it's a P.O. Box, not even his home address. Yeah, sure. I couldn't care if he's legit or not. If he doesn't have the money, NOW, I'm not shipping. The nerve of some people.

It is not that life is short, but that you are dead for so very long.

You just have to start trying it out. I had no references when I started on this site, but a good seller decided to take a chance on me, and I have proven myself many times over since. I buy/sell here quite often now. There are a ton of good people on the BST. Give it a chance.

I'm not sure what's mean't by that Perry ? If the seller isnt responding and a buyers been hosed what other recourse has the buyer ? You make an excellent point and I agree with you. You did nothing wrong. My post was not directed toward honorable and ethical BST participants such as yourself. It was directed toward the unethical BST participants that sell and then don't deliver or those that buy and then don't pay. If there is too much of this nonsense, PCGS may decide that the BST is more trouble than it's worth.

I had a similar negative experience on a BST sale from August with KLRC. Item never received, no refund, no tracking. Promised to refund me twice but never did. Paypal gift should have been a red flag but it was only $50 for a loupe.
<< <i>I think you escalated things way too quickly. Filing a dispute with PayPal after 2 days? Seriously? Some people have lives outside of this forum.

Is was because the lack of responses, but also something else. Like I said before I'm just not trying to out the seller >>
Exactly right. I had a similar thing when I sold a business on five year installment payments. Everything was fine for a year, but by then the idiot who bought it had run it into the ground and stopped paying.
I called multiple times. No answer, no response. I sent certified letters, no response. After four months, I exercised my contractual option to have a sheriff seize his home for auction. THAT got his attention and he was outraged, but as I said to him, it might have been avoided had he TALKED to me. I'm not a horrible person, we could have arranged lower payments over a longer term, but ignoring me left me no choice as it left you no choice.
I got my money. A lawyer and sheriff expense took a third of it, so neither of us was really happy.
IF YOU OWE SOMEBODY MONEY OR A COIN OR WHATEVER, MAKE IT HAPPEN OR CALL TO EXPLAIN. PERIOD.

What percentage of transactions does a "dealer" have to renig on before the good ones are tarnished? Do you think the person who buys the coins he is currently selling going to better off or worse off after the transaction?
More importantly do we owe it to the BST system that we all hold near and dear to point out when there are serious warning flags with sellers? Is it unfair to say that an ALT selling obviously AT coins with multiple negative transactions to include (standing monies owed)constitutes a warning flag to the forum members ?
What percentage of transactions does a "dealer" have to renig on before the good ones are tarnished? Do you think the person who buys the coins he is currently selling going to better off or worse off after the transaction?
1. It need not be a percentage. A single case of non delivery and keeping the money would cast a pall on the previous positive history.
2. This is a little murkier. People make what I would consider bad buying decisions all the time (myself included). I was looking at a single category last night (Liberty $10's), and perhaps up to 95% of the purchases would be subjectively "bad". At least with the KLRC stuff on eBay, my cursory review suggests that it is generally lower dollar stuff and has a look that might appeal to some. If you blow $80 bucks on an Ike worth $10, it is not as damaging as blowing $2500 on a Liberty $10 worth $1000, on an absolute basis.
