Well, that I don't know. I kept looking at that myself with my loupe. There is some doubling there, but I just dismissed it as machine/shelf doubling. I'm not familiar at all with the Buffalo varieties yet. I guess I need to take a closer look. I assume since you ask, there is a DDO for the issue.
  • This isn't a giveaway, is it? image
As for the supposed doubling on the date, it looks like a lighting issue to me

Took a closer look at the date. There is light doubling. Next chance I get, I'll try to take some close up pics.

I also reduced the image size in first post. It seemed a little too big.

Are you telling us it's a 68 or asking if it could be? Great strike, great luster, great eye appeal, and only a couple marks on the obverse. I suppose it could be, but my GTG would have been 67. Anything higher need to be assessed in hand. I assume all of the current MS68 buffalo nickels are grab-you-by-the-... uh... falsetto-shriekingly stunning.

I've never ventured into the 67/68 segement of the market, but will say its nicer than just about any 66 I've seen. For what that's worth.

    I'm not seeing a 68, but I'd go with 67.

Looks very nice, but I'm just not seeing the "wow factor" that would make it a 68.

Very nice. I'm wondering if the die erosion would hold it back.

I like the image of that coin in its slab much more than the enlarged images --really shows the luster. Congratulations -- you have one more 68 Buffalo than I do.image

This pcgs ms68 1937 buff is a beautiful coin. that having been said i have seen both pcgs and ngc ms67's of 1937 that were just as nice as this one and one even better imo but this coin will ulitimately wind up in someones registry set at a five figure price, just cause the label says ms68. i would rather have the extra cash and a nice ms67 and then spend the cash on may other nice coins.
