2012 ASE Burnished

I have a subscription for the proof ASE and Burnished ASE with W mint mark.
A few months ago I received the proof but have no idea what's going on with the burnished. The last time I checked the site I didn't see anything that makes it look like there are plans to release a 2012-W Burnished. Anyone have some insite?

If ya take a look on the mints website under product schedule it has a release date of 8/2/2012 for the uncirculated ASE. My only question is will these be W mint marked or S? Or maybe both? Heard a rumor that they were gonna release a S mint marked burnished ASE this year. Hope this helps!

  • I went back and see it there now; thanks for passing the info along anyway. Well that gives me something to think about. We'll have two proofs one W and one S, then a rev Proof S. Watch and we'll have P marked burnished. For 2011 and 2012 they're giving us some variety.

I'm curious about the S. The burnished ASEs are my favorite versions now that the Mint is making the frosting on the proofs look super tacky.

  • Guys in the 50s and 60s the rage was to collect by the roll. I tell those that are close to me to buy a roll of every lower mintage silver eagle offered with sub 400,000 mintages, throw them in the back of the safe and forget you have them as part of the savings plan. These are semi key dollars and are cheap. We dont know what the reverse proof and unc keys are going to be in ten years but we do have a good chance of seeing semi keys coming. Even semi keys in this series are likely to be anywhere from OK to very good.

Interesting.....up to last week the upcoming products page had

<< <i>08/02/2012 2012 American Eagle One Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coins >>

listed...key word "coins" assumed to be S and W mint marks...

    Now it says this

<< <i>08/02/2012 2012 American Eagle One Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin >>

...singular coin...maybe they scrapped the S or are waiting until later in the year now that the shipping date for the SF RP and PF sets is pushed back to late September for those that placed orders this week.

It's on sale now at the mint.

James Bucci's article on the new coin.

How many different 2012 ASE's are there now ? And why are they so expensive?

Mine shipped yesterday but the tracking number doesn't work.

One thing I've learned over the years is that when the going gets tough, the tough get going. That doesn't even make sense.
Does it mean when the going gets tough the tough split?

Whatever, since I've been collecting this set since 1986, I'll buy at least 3 iof each issue regardless of the negativity surround what the Mint does or does not do.
It is perhaps the easiest set I've ever assembled and I'm glad I started from the beginning as I'd of hated to get bitten a couple of years ago only to play catch up.

I wonder if there will be any more "special" SAE's this year?

Try the tracking number in the UPS website. Last time I got an e-mail saying USPS but it was a USP tracking number.
