This screaming proof Mercury dime. While the old fatty slab and gold bean are uber fun, the coin itself is also a real looker. My pics don't do the best job of showing the nice russet speckled rim toning that wraps both sides. Looking at it under a loupe I have no idea what the grader was thinking all those years ago. No doubt he woke up on the wrong side of the bed that fateful morning....because IMHO this coin is at least a couple of points better.

Thanks for lookin'!

Well, maybe the grader, or graders, many years ago were the same ones that gave it the gold now? I always wonder about this. image

Nice pickups. I love the look of the Indian cent!
  • Those are very nice coins. Who cares if PCGS designates Cameo on RB coins? We can all see that it is and as such it should be valued higher than a non Cameo of the same grade. Collectors need to open their eyes and stop depending on PCGS to put certian lables on their coins. We all have eyes!

I agree! But I wasn't sure whether it was possible on RB and BN coins.

indian cent needs a gold bean also ! beautiful coin for the grade !
  • ThePennyLadyThePennyLady Posts: 4,468 ✭✭✭✭✭
As already mentioned, those are very nice pick ups! And it is a shame that PCGS doesn't designate cameo on RB and BN coins, but at least anyone can see when a coin is really cameo - meaning, "the coin speaks for itself" and yours definitely does!
