Is this 1910-D $10 gold real?

I know these pics aren't the greatest, but what spooks me is the 'seam' look on the edge of the coin, seems like the stars should be visible.

Stars on the edge should be plainly visible and looking at the lack of wear, they should be
    sharp and well defined.

IMHO, I think it is real but may have been cleaned at some point. In light of this I think it's a nice piece of gold.

why the funny angle? its hard to tell with these pics...but there are two things that concern me based on what i am seeing...the obv looks cleaned or cast. i can't decide which...and the edges look smooth...are there stars on the edges?

Could be real but I don't trust my skills so I will just get a slabbed one. However the obverse has a strange look though, maybe it was polished

Those pics aren't good enough to do a proper evaluation. Appears real but cleaned. Can we get better pics?

You shot the picture at an odd angle so it's hard to say. The piece looks to have been cleaned, and when I first looked at it I thought "counterfeit" but that adjusted my thinking because of the odd angle an came down to "I don't know."

Even with the angle I can't see the stars on the edge. The obverse surface looks funny but that could just be the photo....

The obverse almost looks like the 1907 “No Periods” type, which made me suspicious.

  • If this is the one listed on craigslist for the SF bay area, which I suspect it is.
Its a fake, ive seen the coin in hand, its cast abd underweight.
This coin looks exactly like it, just the angle is taken so the mushy observe details dont show.
