Hallmark Grading service box and slab

MICHAELDIXONMICHAELDIXON Posts: 6,516 ✭✭✭✭✭
I finally found a Hallmark Grading Service box! It is white and has the red Hallmark logo on it. The logo is printed on the box and NOT a decal. Also, I have a 1936 D Lincoln Cent MS65PQ Red to accompany the box. It had been years since I saw one and whenever I found this, I bought it without second guessing myself.

    VERY COOL!

I have not seen the box before ... VERY COOL!

Hallmark was usually on target with their grading.

Cool find Mike! I didn't know you were looking for a Hallmark box. I have one just sitting in the office.

Very cool box, and from the outside it looks very similar to the Intercept Shield Trax boxes that hold 20 PCGS/NGC slabs. Hallmark was my favorite service years ago, and I was sorry when they closed up shop.
  • I've never seen the box either. Cool!

Very nice. That box (and the Connoisseur's catchphrase) was unknown to me. Thanks for posting!

I used to use a Hallmark storage box for some of my slabs but never had many Hallmark slabs.

That is an awesome box. I thought I owned a Hallmark coin, but it looks like I sold it at some point.

Have you ever tried contacting Lee Bellisario to see what things he still might have left over from those days?

Wait, I'm confused. Isn't that a PCI slab? Or did one predate the other?

Great looking box and slab Michael! Thanks for posting that bit of history.

Weiss: The Hallmark mold, slabs and inserts were sold to PCI which used them for their coins. Here's some information on Hallmark:

<< <i>Was started in Woburn MA by Q David Bowers and Lee Bellisario in 1987. Q. Bowers is a leading author of Numismatics and is currently in partnership with Stacks of NY.

The mold, slabs and company was eventually sold to PCI, and they used the green holder for a short period before changing to a gold label. Presently, PCI sold out to DCG. Also see, PCI and DGS. >>

    Really cool find image

I own a single hallmark coin (1938-D Buff that I won in a giveaway by NotSure) and a few PCI slabs.

    No box, of course.

Aha. Thanks! Cool coin and box. And history. I've got a green label PCI that looked identical from the front:

My local B&M, Lexington coin. Eric the owner was a grader for Hallmark. He has a slew of those boxes , he uses them instead of the plastic ones.
Lee J has a shop now in Wellsley. He was always in erics shop before that.
