Would love to see that book some time. I have some prop money that was used in the TV Series "LOST". (Two of my sons were "background actors" on various sets for the series. Below one is seated behind Sawyer on one of the infamous flights as well as standing next to Jack at LAX as Jack learns of his father's misdirected body. The last photo depicts a scene with Jack and John Locke in the foreground and the background having been "green screened" with my son and the other background actors being added in as background to John Locke's and Jack's encounter which was filmed at the studio while the background actors were filmed separately at the Honolulu Airport as the set for LAX. The first photo where my son is seated behind Sawyer on the plane was filmed on an airplane section that was taken to the same sound stage/studio that was used for the filming of the original Hawaii 5-O series.) Edited to add: A photo of the "Hawaii 5-O coin" from the original series that I took at the Portland Money Show is added.

Had forgotten about this thread. Since my prior post above, ironically I ended up being an extra myself on Hawaii Five-0 in last Fall's Halloween Episode that aired on November 1st. Linked is a brief video clip with my character as the third costumed party guest stepping out of the Party Bus. In several other scenes I was background at the party itself as per the below screen capture stills. (Apart from the "bit coins" in Detective McGarrett's cell phone and the below referenced "financing" clearly though not the coin centric Hawaii Five-0 Episode of yesteryear.)

Tying back to the original Hawaii Five-0 that featured the most iconic coin related TV Episode, the current Hawaii Five-0 series is now also being filmed at the same studio location as was the original.
The other night I saw a bit of an episode of "The Waltons" were John Boy was helping some older lady. She had a $20 Lib from 1886 (maybe?) from the year she had been married or some such and it looked mint state. Even John Boy, ever the numismatist, said it looked "mint state". lol
I remembered another. In Logan's Run, when Michael York and Jenny Agutter are walking along the road the "old man" character describes the "bits of metal" you had to give to use the roads. I can't remember if he picks one up or not.
I was just watching an episode of The Waltons, where John wanted to finally take Olivia on a honeymoon after 19 years of marriage. The kids all combined what money they had but it didn't amount to near enough. Grandpa joined in, and ended up selling his 1864 2c piece to Ike Godsey for $20, which was enough to get John and Olivia on their way.

In retrospect, the 1973 Hawaii Five-0 show that introduced the world to the 1913 Liberty nickel then valued at $100,000 has to remain the most significant numismatic TV show given that the coin, now worth millions, is actually known as "The Hawaii Five-0 Coin." Added support is that the show itself was coin centric and also included, as Timbuk3 reminded, a Pan Pac octagonal, a
Four Dollar Stella and a 1796 Dollar along with a 1795 Ten Dollar gold piece.
With the remake series now starting its 5th season, it would be fun to see a coin centric show paying homage to the original one. This time it could start with the world's first Ten Million Dollar coin and add some other recent coins in the news to include one of the Saddle Ridge Hoard specimens. If I recall the original plot line it included one of the valuable coins being dropped into a
newspaper box coin slot. Honolulu still has at least one print newspaper so that should not be hard to replicate but I am sure the writers could come up with an even more relevant way for the ten million dollar coin to be slipped, such as being dropped into a vending machine or even a coin locker's coin slot at the Honolulu Zoo.
In one of the opening scenes of "Tombstone", Doc (Val Kilmer) is cycling a half dollar between his fingers while playing poker. Not sure if it's close enough to make out type, but obviously it should be a seated or bust half.

I didn't read through, so I don't know if anyone listed it or not. I recently saw an episode of Matlock where the coin dealer was accused of something, and the dealer couldn't afford Matlock. The negotiated a bunch of coins for his fees. Ben wound up with a bunch of early Bust Dollars.

May have been mentioned but an episode of Maverick with Bart (Jack Ward) had him flip a seated half to negotiate a deal. Didn't get the date though. The same episode included a very young chubby cheeked Robert Redford. Actually saw part of that episode last week on some obscure satellite channel.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned the famous episode of SWAT (circa 1976) that was centered around a large scale heist of a coin collection. Many, many coins in holders of that era were featured.
Don't worry, Hondo Harrelson saved the day and foiled the criminals.
In the 1989 Movie "UHF", starring Weird Al Yankovic, a 1955 Double Die penny was a plot device near the end of the movie. I think it was claimed to be from the Denver Mint.
I just rewatched Hoosiers ... there's a scene where the drunk asks the principal for a quarter at a diner, but the drunk's son makes him give it back. HOWEVER, when the quarter hits the counter, it definitely sounds clad. The movie is set in 1951.
Is there any suggestion that a movie will be made about either the mystery associated with the burial of the Saddle Ridge Hoard or its finding? I could imagine a semi-fictional account that could make for an exciting movie plot surrounding the Hoard's accumulation and burial.
I can remember one episode of Dennis the Menace, Mr. Wilson was asleep, and had his coin collection on the table. Dennis needed some change to buy some pop, or candy in a vending machine. Soooooo he borrowed a few coins from Mr. Wilsons coin collection, one coin being a 1914-d cent and boughts some pop or candy with it. When Mr. Wilson woke up, He was not happy.
Another "Dennis the Menace" episode has a 1914-D Penny:
The episode "Dennis' Penny Collection" (broadcast January 8, 1961) has the police allowing Dennis and his friends to search parking meter collections; Dennis finds a 1914-D penny and gives it to Mr. Wilson (who doesn't get along with Dennis).
