I just purchased a POP 1 superstar card..

It's a BVG 9, with none graded higher. I know this is the PSA board, but alot of you have knowledge about the entire hobby. My question to you, how much does the POP 1 really mean, value-wise? Without divulging everything, the player is one of the top ten of all-time, true superstar playing-wise and collecting-wise.image

  • Who is it? What's the big secret?
  • Depends. If it's T 206 or other vintage - lots.

If it's 87 Topps, hardly anything.

It's a BVG not BGS 1980 and prior. Just thought I would get a consensus of what people thought the premium could be or not be.

    2 problems...................

1st- We do not know the card.

2nd- About 90% of us do not even consider BVG legit no matter what the card is.

By the way it's a Topps card not a T-206 or anything out of the ordinary. Not a rare card to speak of.image

It depends on the year, the brand, the sport... so many variables. For example, most people would say that Guy Lafleur was one of the top five players in the NHL of the 70's. You can buy PSA 9's of him from the 70's for under $25 all day long. Sometimes you can even sneak on in at the $10 range or so. I've seen Pop 1's of guys like that from obscure issues go in that range quite often. You show me a Pop 7 1976 George Brett Topps PSA 9, which on the surface doesn't appear to be such a big deal (but those that collect Brett and/or 76's know otherwise), and you have something that will bring in some CASH.

Unless the highest pop in PSA is a 7 I doubt it carries any premium.

You have been on these boards since 2009 and you ask a question on value with virtually no information. I agree with brianwintersfan, your post is a waste of time without identifying the card.

I agree with 1, but keeping in mind that sheet cut cards do get graded and a couple other things, I trust BVG to accurately grade cards.

If you just purchased it you know exactly the premium it should get.

Purchase price - PSA 9 VCP Value = Premium

Chances are the "premium" will be a negative number.

this thread is basically useless. Surely the OP knows that a POP 1 BVG 9 1960's superstar rookie is gonna bring a different premium than a 1987 Topps George Brett BVG 9 pop. 1, but we have no idea what the card is so like I said, useless.
  • This will be easy for you...

There used to be a cool show called Hanging ---- --. ------. The show was sports related but my dogs name isn't.

The last word is my dogs name. He's part yorkie, part bichon..

Thought I would keep this thread happy before the OP really got harnessed. image

Darnit, I was beat by a minute and I read the question incorrectly.

I think the card you send will be worth as much as I have in my wallet... can you guess that?
