<< <i>It depends on the year, the brand, the sport... so many variables. For example, most people would say that Guy Lafleur was one of the top five players in the NHL of the 70's. You can buy PSA 9's of him from the 70's for under $25 all day long. Sometimes you can even sneak on in at the $10 range or so. I've seen Pop 1's of guys like that from obscure issues go in that range quite often. You show me a Pop 7 1976 George Brett Topps PSA 9, which on the surface doesn't appear to be such a big deal (but those that collect Brett and/or 76's know otherwise), and you have something that will bring in some CASH. >>

Total PSA pop is over 100?...or PSA pop in a grade of 9 is over 100?

psa 9 pop is nearly 100, beckett pop is 1. there are a few psa 10's, no beckett 9.5 or 10.
First of all, this is the most stupid thread I have ever read on this board.
Second, if there are nearly 100 PSA 9's and 1 BVG 9 the card is not rare in your holder. Quite frankly it is much more likely your card will sell for less then the PSA 9 and more like a PSA 8.
I say no premium what so ever!
This is not even a knock against Beckett but simply real world logic. BVG clearly states they have less stringent grading standards.
There is no celebration to be had here. You should check the PSA pop reports and see how many 8's or lower there are and just use that pop figure for your card. Hopefully you did not pay more then what a PSA 8 goes for in this card.

I am not sure I follow you on the grading differences. on this particular card a psa 9 occurs for every 7.5 graded. for the beckett pop this is the only out of hundreds. why do you feel beckett has more stringent standards?

It doesn't really matter. POP 1 is meaningless in a Beckett holder because it's in a Beckett holder. PSA set registry drives prices for PSA graded cards. Beckett's "registry" does not do much for anything.
obviously its worth what you just paid for it, not a penny more
PSA pop reports are for plastic slab investors,.......... a real card collector could care less about their pop numbers...
The Number of Surviving Examples is all that mater to a true collector, not how many have been slabbed and reslabbed and not some inaccurate hyped (irrelevant) population stat
Is there a simultaneous ignore/subscribe button I can click so this thread will no longer show up in the thread listings unless and until OP reveals what the card is?
This thread is without a doubt leaving everyone who reads it with a case of blue balls. Shame on you, OP. Shame on you.
