    What's going on with JM, they started the production again (or never stopped)?

    Couldn't resist the deal so I picked up 50 of 'em. Brand new and hopefully sequentually numbered will make them sell better when the time is right.

    They started making them again I guess. I have seen all the big boys advertising BRAND NEW 1 oz JM bars in sheets, for about a week

    If they really did, people will start selling the "low serial numbers" bars! L@@K!

    It seems, from the ads of Apmex and Provident, that they started using letters at the beginning (A in both cases).
    The ones I have seen so far were only numbers. At least the silver bars, the 1g Gold have letters as well.

    They're running a special @ 1.59 over spot; 10,000 or more @ 1.49 over spot. BTW, APMEX's 24-hr special price is also at $1.49 over spot.

    Wish I had more spare cash right now, but managed to pick up 150. Adding to the "putback" pile on the dip lately, but I'm about out of cash doing so LOL, and I refuse to charge it to the CC without having the cash already to pay the bill.

    I don't know about that. When the market goes sideways I am sure sales of physical go way down. I'd think these frequent sales are just to help them turn over their inventory faster.

    Just curious why people are willing to pay the premium being charged for these vs. the buffalo rounds (which happen to be my favorite)? Am I missing something here? Is it the name? Do you get more for them vs. the rounds when you sell them?

    The answer is the cachet associated with JM and Engelhard.

    Although these are new bars many people, myself included, are attracted to the JM brand. Ease of resale may be a factor. On ebay some buyers may assume these new bars are actually older and hence may fork over a premium.

    Bingo! Top brand name makes it easier to move whenever that time comes. Nice to get a built in premium on the backside of owning Silver rather than having to hope that Spot goes up to make a buck or two.
    Generic=slave to whatever Spot does.
    Collectible=always has a built in premium when selling. Look at it as insurance when buying.

    Huge new mintage from JM, still better bar then most, but will never get big premiums like older JMs or Engelhards

    Hah, likely why silver spiked up a dollar this morning and is holding!!!!!!!!!!!

    For a smaller customer like me, even the shipping is a consideration, and can get those buffalo's at the local coin store for the same price.
    I saw the deal early and was thinking, but since silver went up a buck I'm thinking more than buying.

    Good info on why they are populate and resell is good. Thanks!

    From the ones I've seen, these have an "A" before the serial number, so there is a distinction from the other generation.

    Of course, I've seen people on these very borards sell poured bars claiming they were very old, but you could buy them from the manufacturer on their website!

    That was 1-day offer from Apmex. Still the price at Goldmart is the best around. (and fair shipping charges)

    wow musta missed this thread, read thru might of missed it,
    but i think i saw that no one knows these are just generic bars,
    dont waste your $$$ thinking u r getting a premium johnson matthey bar,
    they will fool newbies though, they r sunshine mint bars mfg with jm logos,
    & yes i saw someone noticed the A serial # thats how u tell the new ones from the no longer made real jm silver bars...

    I suspect that they supply Sunshine with the silver to produce & stamp the bars. JM is a major Refiner of Gold & Silver.
