My stuff was waiting for me when I stopped at home at lunch time. Managed to open the box and as I couldn't wait, ripped one 1980 Topps bb wax with no hits and grabbed a coupe 83-84 hockey to rip now that I am back at work. I have no idea who to look for in hockey?!?!?!?!

Sorry, didn't get either one of those in my packs and no stars but I must say the condition of my two backs was really good. For the guys that picked them up they should be very happy with those.

Ok, I have opened the few individual packs I purchesed and no major hits, but I have to say the condition of the cards I did get was really good. The list below is what I ripped. Be ripping my 84 Topps box tonight.
Looks like there will be many gradeable cards come from this rip. Good luck all!

    (2) 83-84 opc hockey
    (2) 84 Donruss wax
    (2) 82 Topps cello bb--really nice centered cards
    (2) 2001 Topps Traded
    (1) 85 Topps fb cello -- very nice
    (2) 80 Topps baseball wax

Nothing here yet. If you ordered a wax box, does Steve ship via UPS or USPS?

Sorry for the previous picture. Here is a better scan of the cards I pulled today. I only purchased 7 packs total and what you see below is the only star power worth subbing. I did not pull any of the earlier years rookies such as Ripken, Gwynn, Boggs, or Sandberg. Either way, I had a blast and I love doing these group rips.

Now, who is going to be doing another group sub? I need to get that Pujols slabbed pronto!!!!

Congrats on the Pujols P Dub
  • Wow nice gold foil Pujols!
  • Amazing Pull on the Pujols.

Still haven't received anything yet though im sure it'll get to me by Tuesday the latest.

If anyone else got theirs today, please put some scans up or let us know what you got image

  • << <i>I would like....

    1 x 1981 Topps Cello Pack
    1 x 1982 Topps Cello Pack
    1 x 1983 Topps Cello Pack
    1 x 1984 Donruss Wax Pack
    1 x 1985 Topps Football Cello Pack

    Thanks! >>

Received the above packs today. Only noteworthy card was an '85 Elway though it has a small ding on the top center of the card. Otherwise probably could have been a PSA 9. Also pulled an '81 Schmidt and an '83 Carlton. Other than that, nothing.

Had a lot of fun ripping the packs and am looking forward to participating again!
  • Nice Pujols, a gold foil at that.

Paul, congrats on the gold foil Pujols. Give us a guess. "What does it grade"?

Got my 8 cello packs 4-82 and 4-83 Topps. Pulled a dead centered 83 Topps Gwynn, has a tiny little print run that will keep it out of a 10 holder probably a 9. I will most likely have it auto'dnthough at the next Gwynn signing I can find. Pulled some nice HOFers'. Brett, Ryan, Yaz, Reggie Jackson, Ozzie Smith, that I will be grading. Very nice cards! I will add scans later this AM

    Matt,
As they say on Ebay, "I'm not a professional grader," I would dream for a 10, but more likely a 9.

Let me know where and when you're going to get your Gwynn signed, I have a couple low grade rookies that I'd like signed.

    Let's see some scans everyone!

In my 3 85 topps FB cellos I got a Dent Rc with a ding on the edge and really nice Steve Largent and a real nice Henry Ellard Rc

Hoping to come home to my packs tomorrow. I had Steve add 2 1975 Topps mini packs. I'll rip at least one of them. Looking forward to the 84 Donruss too. Haven't opened any of those in a long time (like since '84).

Steve has minis? Don't see any on the web site?
  • BaltimoreYankeeBaltimoreYankee Posts: 3,037 ✭✭✭✭✭
BBCE had mini wax packs listed for $40 each. I told him when this group rip was forming that I wanted to add 2 packs and he said he'd hold them for me. I noticed that they're no longer on the website as well.

Nothing here yet either. It usually takes awhile to get things to CA from BBCE, though. I'm hoping for tomorrow, but won't be surprised if it's Tuesday/Wednesday. image

I got my 83 BB wax box today. I can't bring myself to open it, he put a slip of paper under the cellophane on the bottom of the box that says its from a sealed case and the month/year he opened the case. It has Steve's name on it and baseball card exchange. Just like the 81 wax box I got from the last group rip.
Its credentials are golden when I go to sell it in twenty years.

Hi, so i did some serious ripping of all of my packs. couldn't resist.

-- 1981 football- 2 wax packs, nearly all commons. However, these were in great condition. If you bought in this rip, i'd open them as someone is going to pull a potential 9 caliber Montana

-- 1984 football - 2 cello packs. Still haven't pulled a Marino or Elway, but did hit two HOF Rookers in Jackson and Grimm, Payton and the Dickerson rookie, and Marino and Montana IRs. wow that payton centering, gross, lol.

    image

    image

    image

    - 1985 football cellos - a nice "8" payton

    image

1986 football cellos- a really nice, but a little OC Young rookie, still haven't pulled a rice. sorry horrible picture quality
    image

and threw in one 1980 baseball and got this schmidt

    image

Once again, thanks for the organization. Has hoped to keep something closed from this, but the weekend occurred image

Mine came today. I have literally never opened a hockey pack in my life, but decided to take a flyer on a 71 pack here. The very first card, behind the story inserts, was Dryden. OC, but still a thrill.

Love me some Taco Surf, I usually go to the one in Seal Beach, but I don't go as often since I moved to La Habra. Did you make it out to the Grand Prix?

We love Taco Surf!! So awesome to have one close!

The Grand Prix we skipped this year...but we heard all the cars from home like we do every year. image

Hey Justin and Pdub! I live in Westminster in the O.C. and haven't gotten my stuff yet. I drive down 2nd St. in Belmont Shore everyday on my way to work at the Port of L.A./L.B. I like stopping off at Legends every once in a while to watch the Laker games on that big screen! Cold beer and good appetizers help too! image

I have no collecting direction. I just buy stuff!

I went to Pine Street last week with my two kids over my spring break (teacher), I forgot that they were prepping the area for the grand prix. Everything was blocked off, it sucked, we ended up going to Islands. Love 2nd street, I wish I could get down there more often.
