Mike Napoli applied the Heimlich tonight and had a nice game against his old squad. Rangers clinch at least a wildcard spot. If they win one out of 3 in Oakland, they'll clinch the division title. I'm targeting Tuesday night for that, cause I think the A's will whip up on Martin Perez tomorrow night, but we'll see. No single game playoff for the division Thursday now, either Texas or Oakland will win it outright.
<< <i>Figures...the one day I root for the rangers, they loose. lol
See you guys next year.

I hear ya. I didn't even watch the game last night. It's probably one of a handful all year that I've missed where I haven't been business traveling. I had it pegged as a loss before it even started cause of who Washington decided to start, Martin Perez. The game was on the West Coast so it didn't start until 9:05 PM CST, and I wanted to get some sleep so I could prepare for the celebration tonight when the Rangers clinch. I did wake up about 4AM and rolled over and checked my phone to see that they had lost 4-3 and was surprised at how close it was. I would have been happy that they won, but sad in a way that I didn't see it. We had no business being within one run of Oakland last night.
Tonight SHOULD be the night, but if not, Dempster will take care of it tomorrow, and if not, the Rangers will take care of it Friday night, and so on, and so on, and so on, LOL
Interesting to see that after 160 games the AL West Crown is still undecided and that the division leading Rangers could possibly lose the Crown on the last day of the regular season.
Out here in the Bay Area there is finally some interest from the local population and the local media in the A's.
Maybe this year will see a 1989 WS repeat with a Bay Bridge Series between the Giants and the A's, this time without an earthquake.

Perhaps, but I don't think so. Then again, I figured it would be the Angels giving Texas a run for it's money and not Oakland. There's a reason they play the games on the field and not on paper. Sure has made for an exciting last couple of weeks though. I've got plans for Friday night that don't include going to or watching a Wild Card playoff play-in game, BUT I'll change those if I have to!!!
<< <i>If the A's win the next game and pull even with the Rangers, the final game of the regular season will be filled with tension and drama.

Yep, I have at least adjusted my work schedule for Wednesday afternoon to take the afternoon off to watch the game IF they are playing for a division title. (I'll be working though if it only means home field or seeding)
Not many days would I rather be doing work reports then watching baseball, but I hope tomorrow is one of them
Wow! What a ride. Rangers lose again. Tomorrow is for all the marbles (well, that's a bit of exaggeration as both teams have the safety net of at least the wildcard)
Good luck A's fans. Go to the game tomorrow and whoop it up! Maybe I'll see ya on TV.
Hopefully the Rangers sticks won't be impotent tomorrow as well. Game 162 on the way
Congratulations to the Oakland A's and their fan base. The best regular season TEAM won the AL West. From what I've seen the last couple of weeks, y'all have a classy, gutsy team as well as classy fans. Good luck in the ALDS (unless y'all play Texas) Hopefully the Rangers will get another chance to play y'all this year, but they are picking the wrong time of the year to suck. Hopefully they get their heads on straight and take care of business Friday night and then today would only mean that they for sure get to avoid Verlander in the first round, and that's not necessarily a bad thing.
Now that I'm over the shock and awe implosion of the Rangers earlier today and earlier this week, I'm excited about the playoffs. The matchup has been set. Bring on the Birds! A winner take all battle for the right to face the hated Yankees. Gotta love it! It's playoff time.
Go Rangers! You are defending AL Champs, until you are not. Go one strike further this year. Buckle up, it's time for the ride to begin.
PS- Good luck Oakland, have fun with Verlander, LOL
Mike , being an O's fan , all I can say is good luck . The Rangers have massive fire power but the O's have a lot of guts and a GREAT bullpen . Even if the Rangers win , I'm very proud of how the O's played this year .

Considering how deflated the Rangers looked in the last series against the A's and especially after the last game where they blew a 5-1 lead the loss today was not surpising at all. They looked like they never recovered after that last game.

Time to start the dismantling. 3 competitive years and they couldn't get it done. I hope they tear it down and start over. Our supposed superstar, Mr Hamilton, has performed dreadful for 3 straight playoff seasons. I wouldn't be dismayed if management has had enough of him and let's him go. Quite frankly, I would love for MLB to discover that he bet against the Rangers and was throwing games so he would be banned for life. That way, no other team would get his prodigious regular season talent. Other then 1 late inning World Series homer last year, he basically did nada when he should have been carrying the team. A myriad of supposed injuries, whimsical attitude, blaming coaches for his getting hurt, and his general diva attitude have gotten me to the point where it's time to say adios to him.
Turn out the lights, this party is over for this years edition of the Rangers. Good luck to every team still left other than the Yankees.
I think the Rangers need to avoid birds....wow, just wow.

Will Washington be a goat? What are the Ranger fans opinion of him?
(yeah I'm posting here 'cuz the Reds are spanking my team.) >>
Although Washington has made what I believe to be some questionable decisions at clutch times, I still support him and hope he continues as skipper. Most of my friends that are fans feel the same way. The players seem to want to play hard for him for the most part, and that's a characteristic that can be missing quite frequently in multimillionaire brats like many are in MLB. Therefore, we are willing to give him a pass from time to time on not bunting when they should, pitching what we believe is the wrong pitcher, playing far too much righty/lefty matchup games in clutch time, and sticking with players far too long while not benching them. He's been quite successful here when compared to his peers AND most importantly he seems to genuinely care if they win or lose, and to us fans, that matters.
I think in the Rangers case, the players should be the goats and the fall guys, not the skipper or GM

Neither the Rangers or the A's would want to lose and then be forced to play a one game, winner take all, against the other wild card team.
