New Quarter, new hype?

piecesofmepiecesofme Posts: 6,669 ✭✭✭
First trading day of the new Quarter and the market is up. New money typically flows in at the beginning of a new Quarter, imo, artificially enhancing strength. All I'm saying is, don't believe the hype. What's changed other than the date on the calender?

Really? I thought it was the other way around. Flows in at the end & flows out at the beginning. Thanks for straighten me out.

Sure, it flows in at the end, because that is just before the beginning, isn't it? Some can't wait a few days, or think they are on to something.

pick it apart lol. It's a simple statement that most will read into it what is not there, but go ahead because it's what we do here, right?.

I don't think that's a correct statment, your being rather harsh.

(BTW you forgot to capitalize the P in pick and you shouldn't put a period after the questionmark.)

BTW, "your" should be you're, "statment" is spelled statement and "questionmark" is not one word but two! (oh, I am not English mother tongue)

It would be relatively easy to prove (or disprove) this theory by researching the last several years of market action on the day of the new quarter and the few days following.

ah hah...finally someone who realizes it for what it's worth. It's just an unexamined observation aka an assumption (insert joke here)
It's something that I heard today on CNBC. An analyst comes on saying that because it's a new Quarter and because fund managers sometimes wait til a new Quarter to throw money at their fund, that stands to reason that "new money" enters the market at the beginning of a Quarter. No proof it being fact, just something an analyst said.

My take on that if that is in fact true, is that artificially enhances growth from what the BIGGER picture really is. Agree? Disagree? Either way, it's just a thought. Really, please don't over analyze this.

Only three things matter: what did you buy it for, how long did you hold it, and what did you sell it for?

    Yeah, that sounds about right.

Also, the whole market for everything on the planet is "rigged" and all business, scientific, and political leaders are "crooked"
