Finally!!!!! A NEWP for the core collection. GTG. **Grade Revealed**

Quick shots, this came in the mail today. It fills a hole in the type set.

What do you think ANACS graded it in the 1980's? What would you grade it.

I believe the coin is accurately graded at MS63. I'm not sure about the FH status as I don't collect this series and havn't really studied what constitutes a full head. I probably overpaid for it on a BIN, but I wasn't going to let it get away. I search for ANACS certificates every day, and this is only the second Standing Quarter I've seen in the past 3 years. The other one was a problem coin and I still bid aggressively on it and didn't meet the seller's reserve. This coin is an average coin, hence the 63 grade. I will always look for upgrades and this will be one of them but for now, another one checked from the list.

Barber Quarters and Halves are others, I have had difficulty even finding a piece to buy.

Not sure about the ANACS grade.

I'm thinking 63FH, maybe 64FH. Though I could see it in an AU58FH too. Just can't tell if I'm seeing rub or shadows.

  • I think Anacs gave her a FH 64. Great strike, lotta luster, beautiful coin!

I think ANACS graded it MS60/63, and congrats on the nice pick-up.

The slab grade would be MS-63, Full Head. It does have a rub on the knee and a very light rub down the shin. That could knock it down to MS-62, but I don't think you could get a Standing Lib quarter like that in an AU-58 holder.

p.s. I don't think ANACS gave FH back in the 80's, but I could, of course, be wrong.

I can't tell if there is a luster break / wear on the sash from the image. It's a 58 if this exists. If not, I'd say the coin was probably graded MS 63 FH. This is a well-struck 29 P. I doubt you're going to get higher than MS 64 on this coin today, due to the chatter on Miss Liberty's body.

Great pickup, JJ. I would hope ANACS offered a 64/64 FH grade(don't even know if FH was offered 30+ years ago or not).
    Regardless, cool as it gets.

It struck me as I was reading your edited post - your type set theme (ANA certificates) and mine (clipped planchets) couldn't be more different, yet we both have trouble finding the same coins. If a clipped Barber Half with an ANA certificate ever comes to market, you and I may have to resort to pistols at sunrise. image
