I know it's in a Genuine slab, but this one is cool!

Sure, it doesn't lack issues, but come on. These guys are cool no matter what the condition.

Just wanted to share!

(Obviously, not my coin...)

Agreed, but much better places to put $20k.

    I know...
What would be a fair price for this FA2 coin?

Not sure, but I would guess $8-12K.

While rare I would have a hard time paying up for that even if I had the money.

Overpriced for what it is. For $20K you could find a nicer specimen with some looking.

I would definitely not lay out that much cash for such a coin.... Cheers, RickO

For the lowball collector.it would be hard to improve upon this coin.

You do know that "high 5 figures" would be like $80K or more or did you mean high 4 figures?

Here's what $19,550 can buy you in a NGC problem holder - much better deal - HA archives, 2-3-12.

Edited to correct the price and add the rev.

Lowball collectors though seek problem free coins.
Problem coins in low condition are generally (maybe outside of the rarities like the above coin) not wanted.

    A coin I wouldn't want to own.

I'd like to own one of those, but that's too far gone for me. I think that $20,000 is WAY too high. I think that $8 to $10 is a reasonable number for a space filler like that.

I know it's not the same coin, but a dealer on the show circuit has had a Pan-Pac octagonal $50 gold for a year and has been unable to sell it in the $20k range. The coin was found in a wall of an old building and is all beat up, but it does show all the detail. Still it's not selling.

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

Point taken, Yes i meant 4 figures. I obviously don't dabble in that pool very often and misspoke. I could see paying 8-9k

I would think 3X's to 4X's melt is worth it for the history alone.
They do contain about 1.5 ounces of gold, no?

    A little less that 2 1/2 ounces or 2 1/2 times what's in a double eagle.
