This is a small show that got smaller last year when it moved from the Civic Center to the Moose.
Usually junky low-ball dealers outnumber good ones, but there are usually at least a few decent dealers there.
It's worth an hour drive (but none of you live that close)...it might be worth a 2-hour drive...I wouldn't drive more than that unless you have nothing else to do.
There are some really nice coins in the area, but they don't often come out for these shows, and most collectors don't advertise the fact that they are. One example is that the Bolender dollars lived here for over 50 years and almost no one knew it.

Report: Very busy show...our quiet 20 table show had 30 tables, all filled. Lots of attendees, LOTS of YNs.

Very few exhibits.

Most people seemed to be VG-F hole-filler types plus State Quarter and prezzy buck collectors.

My requests for mid-grade Barber halves were met with laughter. I asked a few dealers what they would hypothetically pay for a couple of my dups and verified why they don't have any.

Bought nothing, looked at a few commems and IHCs but nothing screamed at me so I came home with money in my pocket.

Despite the fact that we are undergoing a significant boomlet in wineries here, there was no wine!!! image

I just don't want to get blasted if none of the good guys show up.

  • How far is Salisbury from DC?

Depending on the part of DC you're in and how fast you drive...2 hours-2 hours 15 min. My son lives in Waldorf and does it in 2:20. I'll buy lunch if you come down (and my wife lets me out of the house).

Well, at least it was busy and well attended, even if you didn't find any NEWPs for yourself!

  • The misses and I have two timeshares in OC...wrong time of year though. The MD shore area is a hard place to find a B&M store or much of anywhere that has coins/currency. I usually do my looking in Delaware, which is not much better.

Interesting... another coin show with great turnout and apparently brisk business... could be a trend developing. Cheers, RickO

I asked a few dealers what was moving in their shops and the answer was...bullion. But the show was mostly coins although I did see some silver rolls trading hands. There was a low-ball bullion buyer there, I don't know how well he did as there was a decent one there as well, with lots of $.

I think I attended an early edition of that show in 1966. It was first coin show I ever attended. I was a junior in high school. It was something like an hour drive from Milton, Delaware where I grew up.

I remember I bought an 1891-S quarter in dipped white Uncirculated for $35. The same dealer had a 1793 Wreath cent in a "WOW!!" grade (comment from a collector who saw it.) for $2,100. Ahh... those were days, but back then $2,000 seemed like $50,000 to me. image
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
