I would love to see the 48 Leaf football in person! Those are some incredible looking cards. It would be nice if PSA would recognize all the variations on the flips.

I'm sure that Playoff issued several to the players that were there. I haven't seen many though. His mom brought these back to exchange for other RCs that our local shop owner was saving for her. I'm sure she has most of his RCs. I purchased the card for the shop owner. Her, and her family are great people.

For Bunker...I bought this raw from my favorite shop for $43.20 in December of '05.

I know a lot of people like the 76 Bench card the best, and it is cool. But my favorite Bench card has always been the 69 Topps. Love the pose, the trophy.

There's something about the '71 Bench, that just makes me happy. I enjoy the whole set, but that's a classic card.

<< <i>CW, Watched that Musial, I couldnt believe what it sold for. How nice is that card in hand? Seems a grade lower than it should be. If you get that bump, you then stole that card! image >>

Matt, the card looks every bit as good as the scan. I did email the seller
beforehand to make sure the card was wrinkle-free. The only flaws I see
that might've downgraded it are the small stain "dot" on the back of the
card (on top of "American" at the bottom of the card), and a small smudge(?)
on the front bottom edge below the "A" in Musial (at the very edge of the card).

As a side note, I was a little bit concerned with how short the card appears to
be top to bottom in the holder, but after checking past auctions of this card with
a Google search, I saw numerous examples with the same gap in the PSA
holder. These cards (Leafs) seem to be naturally short in the space PSA provides.

BTW, Matt, the Musials you posted to start the thread are incredible, to
    say the least.

Thanks again, all, and bring on the cardboard! (cool thread!)

Guys, sick cards!!! I love the diversity too!!!

Russ, I think Chris Sabo will let you slide as I do see some Reds in there. I'm partial to the Ryan RC, NICE!!!

Jim, that Bobby Orr is a must have card as in I must have it so send it to me. image

Chris, you can post your Campys anytime. I especially like the two Bowmans, very strong centering and eye appeal on those. image

Jeff, did you rip any of those cards and sub them yourself? Great bunch of cards.

    Just wow!!!

Thanks, Matt and Mike. I have finished the basic Campy set but I've stalled slightly on the master set. While I wait for nice, mid-grade cards to show up I've been working on adding modern stuff. I know most people on here don't like game-used cards but I've actually grown quite fond of them (the cards themselves, NOT the cutting up of these relics) and I think I'm up to 42 or 43 different now. I've still got a LONG way to go until I'm satisfied with everything, though.

  • Thanks guys. I'll trade ya my Gretzky for your Mantle !! Very nice card. A card that i have not come across ungraded for a descent price yet. Maybe one day.
Here's my horror story on a PSA 10 1952 Mickey Mantle. I'll keep it as short as possible.
I lived in Windsor Ontario at the time and PSA was fairly knew to grading. I guy put up his whole set up for auction at the old Holiday Inn before it burned down. He had every card graded from the st in PSA 8 to PSA 10. The Mantle was one of the first PSA 10's ever graded.
I wanted to go to the auction just to be able to see what a gem mint Mantle looked like. My wife and i had other plans that day but wanted to slip out early just to go. Well to cut a long story short they advertised the aution so much that not one deep pocket collector showed up for the auction. They were expecting the card to break the old record of 120,000.00. The auctioneer went all the way down to a opening bid of what the card booked for at the time of 18,750.00. Not one person raised there hand. When i read this in the Windsor Star the following day i was floored to say the least. I showed an add to my wife of Smokey's in Las Vegas. Paying a minimum of 50,000.00 for a PSA 10 Mantle.
If i would of went i would have bid. Didn't care where i would have gotten the money, loan, mortgage etc.. but i would of got it. So since that day my wife just stays out of my affairs when it comes to cards no matter how much i spend. Chances are i would have sold the card and would have bought a PSA 7 or 8 at the time for my personal collection and still would have had money left in the bank.
    Cheers, Steve
