I know that nobody cares, but I don't like the new at all. Not near as easy to use as the old.

Teletrade.......I wish you would at least make it so you can set the close-up with both sides (like before) as my default. so I can get this as soon as I click on lot.

I assume that you'll be revisiting this thread to address any concerns or comments raised here.

With no hidden reserves, does that mean that the computer bump aka incremental bid will no longer be in effect for those lots? I expect the incremental bid will remain in effect for those coins listed without a reserve. If an incremental bid happens to be the ending/final bid does TT buy the coin for that bid?

At the risk of sounding like a wiseass, would it be too much to ask that a coin with the rainbow symbol actually resemble a rainbow or maybe the term color could be used for those coins which are colored but aren't much for rainbows.

It looks good. I guess I'll have to wait for the next time I bid to see how it functions.

  • Well it is different from the old site and I can see why DIMEMAN isn't a big fan but
change some times will work it's self out and we'll all like the new version. One
thing that bothers me right off the bat is that I would like to see the print on the pages
darker. I am so tired of looking at web pages that the a color print blends in with the
complete page you can read anything. That is what I am seeing with all the real light
grey on each page. You need to darken it up so things are seperated and not everything
just blends into one big glob. Another thing is the pictures on the catagory page are just
to dang small. Either make them bigger or leave them off all together.
  • Love the pic preview! Overall, much better!

That's the biggest complaint for me as well. The way it is now, it is distracting to the eye. Not big enough to be useful, but big enough to distract as I try to read the title line.

Most of the other changes I can get used to, from what I have seen....this one....well, I think it will make me spend less time on the site and actually cause me to miss some things I may be interested in as my eyes try to see the small pictures but may cause me to miss the pertinent info in the link (date/info/etc).

Overall it seems OK so far, something I'll get used to. I do have a few suggestions though:

I like the small image preview next to the coin listing, but add a function that enlarges the picture when your cursor hovers over it. I've seen this feature on some Ebay listings.
Allow me to get a list of ALL my coins I've purchased from Teletrade over the years. This would be a great feature and would show how much we have spent. Since everything is tied to our user id, this should be possible.
Expand the expiration time for Gold Rewards to 2 years.

image Takes alot longer, for me, to view the lots I'm interested in. I know change is inevitable and good, but I'm missing the simplicity of the old TT site.

By respond, I figured they would look at what we as customers think of the new changes and would consider the changes that we would like back.

Maybe it's just me but I would think they would like to make as many of us happy as they can.

    Just a thought.

The home page has excerpts from your tracking list. If you click on one of those you get your list coin plus future listings for it. If you go to your TL first and then select the coin, you get the 4 past prices like you normally would.

For a slab hunter, the search is much slower. Images come up slower. When you return back to the listings, the coins you've already looked at are no longer highlighted.

    It's turned a 2 sec/coin search into 5-6/sec per search. image

Items you've already looked at are no longer highlighted with an alt color. (This should be very easily fixed)

Pulled from Teletrade Web Site "Cert. number may vary from photo"

Is everybody just getting too lazy to take the photos? If I am buying a coin I want to see the EXACT coin I am bidding on

Come on,,,,,,,, all coins are not created equal even if the label says that they are. While (2) coins may have the same grade on the label they can be vastly different. One coin may have light tone and YOU may like that. However I want a BLAST WHITE Coin so I really want to see the exact coin that I am bidding on. Some coins may have small spots or haze and I sure don't want a spotted coin when the photo shows a clean coin.

I have already seen this happen on another Auction Site

    GrandAm imageimageimage

    Edited to add the following:

My intent is not to "BASH Teletrade" but to hopefully get them to see the light. image

I have purtchased many, many coins from them starting way back when you got a paper catalog in the mail with photos of the coins and bid over telephone lines,,,,, before there was internet bidding.

I can see that to a corporate executive this using stock photos might seem like a reasonable money saving idea. image He may think "Heck they are all the same anyway" Problem is the buyers don't feel that way. And it seems that a seller needs the buyers if he is to run a profitable business.

Coin Collectors are a strange bird. We want to examine every little nook and cranny and the surface of a coin we are interested in. We want to see the actual coin FOR SALE,,,,,,, not a "Stock Photo" I suspect that most of us know what the basic design is of a coin we are interested in buying is. We don't need your "Stock Photos" to show us that.

By using "Stock Photos" you may save a nickel and throw away a dollar. (Ok, I stold that line from the Shipping Wars Guy) image

I know I have and will certainely pass on bidding on "Stock Photo" Coins or at the very least greatly reduce the maxium bid that I will put in.

Also I believe that if you use "Stock Photos" you would have to offer a return right and the cost involved with that would surely be many times the amount saved by not clicking a couple of photos. image

I mean really,,,, you already have the camera equipment and the guy to use it,,,,,,,,, just snap the photos and be done with it.

It will be much better for your bottom line in the long run than the saving a nickel by using "Stock Photos"

I believe this is a very new policy? I don't believe "Stock Photos" were used before TeleTrade updated their Web Site did they???

In conclusion I would just like to say that TeleTrade has always been a GOOD Company to do busines with BUT this "Stock Photos" usage is a BAD IDEA for them and for us coin buyers.

I will now step down from my SOAP BOX image

POSTED ON OTHER THREAD AS WELL:

Bottom line .... I drop off coins at Teletrade just like everyone else and ALL of my coins are photographed ... no ifs, ands or buts (except where I drop off bulk lots of 10, 20 or 30 of the same coin and I believe they only photograph a max of 6 different pieces per lot... which has been the case for years).

From what I have seen so far, the lions share of the coins with the "stock photo" are simply modern "widgets" ... coins that trade sight-unseen all day long on the dealer networks and/or coins that have sight-unseen buy prices. And, yes, even JR $5 Gold NGC-MS70 coins are traded sight-unseen as an extreme example of higher value moderns selling just like sight-unseen MS66 Saints trade (especially CAC'ed coins). In theory, these modern coins do not even need to be sitting at Teletrade at the time of sale ... they can simply be offering in their auction a few of this and that from a dealer's existing stock of (50) or (100) pieces. Of course, an auction company would need to be VERY careful to only deal with the "cream of the crop" consignors with this type of arrangement to ensure product that was sold was available on the spot for winning bidders. In the worst, worst case, an auction company could probably pick up the phone and call me, DLRC or any number of modern coin sellers and fill an order in about 10 minutes on the type of coins I see being offered with the stock photos thus far.

I have no doubt many bidders might be turned off by this approach and only want to buy the coins they can see nice pictures of ... and that is great, because as I mentioned before 100% of my consignments fit that bill. But, there are other bidders who care ONLY about price (I speak with them nearly every day and as strange as it sounds to many of us here, you can count on it being the case). If they can buy the "stock photo" coin for 5% or 10% less and it says NGC or PCGS on the holder, they are in. I can understand an auction company wanting to try to get a piece of that "action" as well. In fact, I predict you may see more and more auction companies utilizing this approach with more and more coins as time goes on. Heck, I am sitting on some slabbed product where I have (50) or (100) units in stock. I might even let an auction company loose in the near future and tell them they can sell (10) or (20) of this or that for me using stock photos. Worst case, the coins don't sell.

Would also be nice if they could open the expanded pics in a new window. Nothing worse than having to use the back button 4 times if you look at both pics and track the item.

Wish they would maintain and allow the "classic" version too. I actually prefer the previous version.
The new site is way toooooo busy for my tastes.
