A BST deal that went the wrong way, no names to protect the guilty.

A very sad day indeed. I will not mention any names but just wanted "you" to know that I know.
Short facts: Responded to an offer of an item for sale. Price negiotiated and a deal was made. I fulfilled my end by immediately sending over the money, and seller indicated they would ship that day or the next day.
The following morning, instead of receiving a tracking number, I received a sob story about how the sellers Dad had ordered the same coin, but that his order was cancelled, and that now his Dad really wanted it.
Now, although this sounded goofy based on timing issues especially with a reported sale of a similar item late the night before (Yup, it of course went for more) I certainly didn't want to deprive anyones Dad of a coin.
So, I simply responded that a refund would be fine. The refund was processed, but apparently paypal has decided to hold my money pending some sort of review as Oh ya, seller had requested a gift payment which I complied with.
Now, here we are not even 3 days later and what do I find on Ebay...Yup, you guessed it, my item up for sale by the same guy.
At this point I should say that I always research who in fact I'm dealing with especially with online stuff. With that said and in case you're wondering: How did I figure out it was you?
Well, it wasn't the seller name change to distance any similarity between your forum name and your new name. It was the fact that at some point you created a website and you gave it away by using the same photo (see portfolio) from your website as your ebay photo.
With that said, I hope "all the tips I provided" in all of our messages including it's actual worth pays off.
This, despite the fact that I am disappointed in your behavior, I see your listing as mine, and regardless I am still hopeful that it pays off for you.
Lastly, guys, be careful on the BST and always do your research.
Now, I am done.

<< <i>Please PM me this sellers name. Thanks. >>

Too many positive BST transactions with too many members to list.

I have done many paypal gifts on BST. No issues. It should not be an issue among gentlemen. But scoundrals will appear.
I knew it would happen.
Hoard the keys.
I agree. This person should be outed, but in a subtle, non-direct way.

i think he was referring to getting his payment reversed per PayPal.
more hoops to jump through than through PP buyer protection

Gold can you please elaborate to a paypal noob, I assume I am not as protected using the gift feature?
Cas could I also have the sellers name? My last 3 or 4 transactions have been on the BST and that is generally where I check first.
Successful card BST transactions with cbcnow, brogurt, gstarling, Bravesfan 007, and rajah 424.
I also would greatly appreciate a PM with the persons ID.
Thanks.
<< <i>I assume I am not as protected using the gift feature? >>
Correct. Paypal gift = zero protection. I've used it recently here on the BST without problems, but every forum has a few bad apples...

Doh, I guess I have been lucky enough to have dealt with honorable people on the BST so far.

Also either post a link to the auction or send me a link to it. I don't want to do business with this seller on any venue.
A PM to sportsmoderator might get him removed from doing further damage on our respected BST.

<< <i>If you're going to tell everyone by PM anyways, why not just post it here??????? >>
He didn't say he was going to tell everyone by PM and, if he posted it openly, he would violate Don's rule of not "outting people"
Also, I have a guess or two on who it could be, going by some of the BST posts and information that some posters provide about themselves in their own posts (and styles). I would not be surprised at all if it is one of them ,,,,, .
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
As for the issue at hand. Hey seller, why don't you man up and honor the deal you made.
If someone requests a "gift" payment I immediately end the transaction.

Like Casman could add to his sig line the link to the eBay seller's page!
<< <i>That is correct, I will not mention or PM this persons name. >>
Yes, but if you happen to start a thread today about an interesting eBay auction...

He got the refund, but returning a gift catches eyes at PP.
I agree with SaorAlba. Other than a little venting, the original post does nothing but cast a suspicion over many, instead of the single guilty party.

It's against policy to out someone. I don't think PMs matter.

<< <i>Paypal is a service....If you don't want to pay for the service, don't use it. The last time I checked, a gift means getting nothing in return. Lot's of people like to whine about paypal until they get shafted by an unscrupulous person.

Totally agree , it never fails to amaze how people badmouth ebay and paypal but both us and abuse it.
