How did that pack get a 9 with that wrapping? that should be 9(OC)
That's how all 75 mini cellos are wrapped. The wrappers are same as 75 regular size Topps so they look unusual that way. Same goes for 75 mini racks, in which the cards slide around quite a bit because the sleeves are also regular size.
Edit add: PSA also doesn't use OC qualifier when grading packs.

ahhhh that does make sense then. i figured since they shrunk the wax, they'd do the same for the cellos. Safe to say they didnt mega-produce the cellos? Do you have any of the boxes that the cellos came in? im guessing thats smaller as well

I do...actually that brings up an interesting point about 75 mini cello boxes...because Topps also used regular size 75 green outer cardboard boxes, they actually inserted corrugated cardboard dividers in the box to keep the packs from sliding all around.

<< <i>The Last 84 Football pack I opened didn't have a wrapped piece of gum, so that kind of threw me. Which I could remember where I got that pack from. Probably Ebay. Was that the only year they used wrapped gum? >>
I don't remember seeing wrapped gum in a pack before either, threw me too!
After opening my 76 cellos, I'd have to agree with keeping them sealed. Most of the cards had corner bends to go along with the lack of star/hof power. I actually did get a OC Garvey, but it was the card the gum was stuck to...
With the Brett or Yount, you have some value there...as just a card, it might not be worth as much given the condition the card "might" be pulled from the cello pack.
I agree with Justin. Keep sealed or just not worth purchasing unless confirmed star power on the front or back or to be sent off to be graded.
Hank Aaron - *oc from bottom to top and a small ding top left corner. Johnny Bench - This card is centered beautifully and really sharp corners. Jim Palmer - not as nice as the Bench but still decent.
The 2 packs of 78 were nothing but commons - literally. Not one semi star player.. With the $30 i spent on the 78's, I could of bought myself a nice looking Murray. Got caught up into thinking I might actually pull one. Oh well, it was exciting for a brief moment.
If someone wants to do a little trade for the Hank Aaron, pm me.
Just opened my 2 football runs. I got a Carter rookie kosar rookie and a beauty 85 Payton and munchick rookie along with 85 payton sticker. It was a fun rip and thanks again for setting up mike. Scott
Did anybody get anything in the '78 wax packs? I received my packs today and one of them looks like it has a double fold on one corner. Anyone else see that issue with theirs? The other pack also has a funky fold line but it's not double folded. If everybody is getting only commons, then that's a red flag.
<< <i>I got about 4 really nice 85' Football commons. Are commons worth grading? Seems like quite a few people like this set. >>
Check the PSA population report, check ebay and past sales and vcp if you have it for those cards in higher grade. Commons do go for a lot sometimes if they are wanted by registry set collectors in PSA 9 and 10's. That is if there are not a lot of them going around.

I bought 2 packs as well as other things. Here is what came out of the first pack alone
I finally got my (pretty crummy) scanner hooked up. Here's what my BB cello run produced. Boy that 79 pack is tight as a brick. A little star power showing with O Smith on the back of '81, Rod Carew AS on the back of the '83 and an '84 with Brett on top (I guess some might consider Greg Nettles a star too). Should I consider getting the Brett pack graded or would that be a waste of money?
First, I'd like to thank the organizers, great fun on this run. I got 1 football run and it yielded:
1980-Payton, very OC, but i'm never turning Walter away
1981-Steve Largent showing on back (not too significant, but decided to keep close and sub in tomorrow with other packs to PSA)- taking advantage of this months special
1982- Lott rookie, oh wait, thats the wrong Lott, too bad
1983-nada
1984- Rickey Jackson RC. Any HOF'er rookie is never a bad pack
1985- John Elway- at first a beautiful card, but then an ugly blue fish eye in the top left rears its head
1986- Reggie White Rookie and Kosar, both OC t/b, but again Reggie White rookie is a great card
1987- nada
1989 Topps/Score - Nada
So overall in one run, got an early Payton, two HOF rookies, and a nice 2nd year Elway.
Thanks. I was actually pretty stoked about that one. It looks even better in person. Its my first Bench card and I am very please with it. Looks like an 8.5-9 imo.

I looked at that pack for 3 months thnking about buying it but never could pull the trigger. Pretty silly not to with Gibson being one of my top 2 favorites. Congrats on a great pick-up.

The Mojo Magic will catch up to you. I remember taking part of a group rip last year. I decided to keep two of each pack unopened(81,84,86 football) after seeing some of the hits that came out of them. One lonely night, I justified opening them and pulled a 84 Dan Marino and an 86 Jerry Rice.
<< <i>Is anyone still waiting for their packs? I haven't received mine, and I'm depressed. >>

Question on the 76 cellos. Man they look so tight almost bending the corners. Anyway they have decent cards .
