For those that got the 76 packs you might be interested in the following info. Steve emailed me the following info on the 76 cello boxes: " I bought 3 boxes recently. They told me 1 of the boxes had Brett and Yount showing on back. Another one had a few minor HOF’ers on top. The 3rd one was pretty common." I never removed the shrink wrap on the one I got so I don't know which one it was but it looks like a 2 out of 3 chance that some people should pick up some packs with a HOF on it.

Edited to add that he doesn't pull star packs from the boxes and he is going on what he was told and not from looking through the box. Also that the boxes are sealed then put on the shelf and the help pulls one off at random so no idea what is any box that is sent out to any particular person or group.

Cool! Hopefully if someone gets a HOF pack, they'll scan and post it here. I will if I'm so lucky.

O.K. Reed, I have to ask. Why 2,287? Why not 2,222, a nice even number? image

Are shipments being held until all payments are received? I hope not. There will be many others willing to step in and buy what wasn't paid for.
  • I hope not too, only living a few hours away from BBCE I was hoping to have my package today image
  • Shouldn't be held up at all. Steve just told me there were a couple who still needed to pay. I will ask him when packs went out...

No, Steve doesn't hold everyone's stuff up. He started shipping everything out on Monday so today may be your lucky day. Especially if you treated your mail carrier well this year. image

  • Steve just confirmed half went out yesterday and the rest today. He has been doing most of it himself. So I would say Friday we should see a bunch of stuff coming in.

Good Luck to all that rip!!!

Thanks for the update Mike. That was a lot of stuff to pull, especially the pack runs, on top of just sending them out.

Plus the extras, we know who you are. image

    Hey Mike,

If any of the non-payers were 1976 or 1978 let me know and I will take them. Like you said, it's probably an oversight.

    Thanks!

    It's possible but unlikely
  • Hopefully we should start seeing some rips today. Cant wait to see what you guys (including myself) pull out. I know someones going to get a Montana on here along with The Murray Rookie and some real nice 76 stars!!
  • How many Montana's will usually be found in a box?

Hopefully 1. In my pack of course.

    1992 Collectors Edge Football case?
  • is it a conflict of interest that steve hart Grades his own material he sells?
  • jeffcbayjeffcbay Posts: 8,950 ✭✭✭✭
He doesn't grade, he authenticates that they are sealed packs for PSA.
  • EchoCanyonEchoCanyon Posts: 2,288 ✭✭✭

<< <i>is it a conflict of interest that steve hart Grades his own material he sells? >>

As far as I know, Steve does NOT grade -- he simply states if a pack is authentic or has been tampered with.
  • so who gives it the grade..

    or

is it a conflict of interest to authenticate your own packs you sell?
  • jeffcbayjeffcbay Posts: 8,950 ✭✭✭✭

<< <i>so who gives it the grade..

    PSA grades them.

Have you ever had dealings with BBCE before? If you have, then you would know it's not a conflict of interest. He backs up every pack he sells.

<< <i>so who gives it the grade..

    a) PSA (who else)

    b) possibly

My biggest beef is the travel a pack has to take. I've had packs in my possession since 1975. A few years ago I sent them to PSA to have them slabbed. The packs traveled from me (NY) to PSA (CA), then PSA (CA) sends them to Steve in (IL). Steve says they were resealed and when I received them back (IL to CA to NY), they were opened.
  • ok...i thought 3rd party grading (authenticating) meant 3rd party...

not graded or authenticated by the person who is selling them..

i remember in the 80s you didnt trust a dealer who said the card was mint, because it was near mint probably...

that is why TPG came into existence....seems like we have come full circle..
  • grote15grote15 Posts: 29,749 ✭✭✭✭✭
Who would you rather have doing the authenticating? Steve is the most reputable dealer in the hobby so the answer is obvious, imo.

<< <i>i remember in the 80s you didnt trust a dealer who said the card was mint, because it was near mint probably... >>

This is still the case today. If a seller says mint, it's likely near mint or worse.
  • i dont collect was, only old stuff...but is see this steve hart guy all over the place and i guess it seemed strange he was selling stuff...

thats like joe Orlando selling graded PSA cards on his website...isnt it?

ps im sure hart is on the up and up,,it just seems like a weird relationship

  • << <i>How many Montana's will usually be found in a box? >>

I've probably purchased 30 packs from BBCE over the last 6 months and I haven't pulled 1. It would be sweet irony if I pull one in my 1 pack coming this time.
  • artistlostartistlost Posts: 2,242 ✭✭✭

Just to add a bit...BGS does sell it's own graded items on ebay.

thus the loss of confidence in the market for BGS cards over the years...
Brady BGS 9.5 RC probably didnt help either...

i myself, whenever i think of the words Conflict Of Interest, i run the other way
