In a previous thread I said, I was, "watching," . I'm still watching. My gut tells me PM's will go down short term.
I'm watching but have not pulled the trigger quite yet. Take care. jws

Experience has ingrained in me that timimg the market usually is nothing more than short turn luck before you get burned.
I continue to add a little regularly depending on what oportunities present themselves.
I do try to watch/be aware of long term secular trends however.
Also, it usually is best to not fight momentum.
But, I really know not(nor do I believe does anyone else) where the PM or other markets are going.
Your guess is as good as mine.
Good luck to us all!
Would like to see a big dip to add more silver and pile up more gold for investment purpose only.

Whenever possible I add interesting poured silver bars plus $5 gold commemoratives for my registry set. Yesterday's pickup was five beat up ASE's at $31 each.

I picked up 15+ oz of Ag Friday

Agreed. That's why I go with my gut. . Take care. jws
At a show this morning and the only silver were 3 x 10 engelhards that the guy had since the Thanksgiving show, and some random Silvertowne bars. He still wants too much for them. Came home empty except a few AGE fracs in some older PCGS slabs.

I feel your pain. Bad news is never good. Take care, jws
I guess the short answer is, not buying at spot/melt values.
This weekend I was at a show, and there were many folks looking to buy silver in quantity. First time I had seen this in a while.

<< <i>Speaking Locally, Buyers have come back to take advantage of the lower prices, Cant keep silver in the store both 90% and silver eagles, part of the reason is fewer sellers and more buyers currently.

That's normally a good sign of a potential rebound ... same holds true with the opposite.
And they may. Right now, I am using funds that were generated when I sold some Ag in the low 40s and mid 30s. Did I know it was going to drop? No. Just had another use for the funds and needed to take some off the table. Sold a little extra at the same time. Even if it drops further from here, I am still ahead of the game by not holding during that $10-15 drop.
I don't try to time the market. I don't flip. This has a longer time horizon so I'm not worried about short term fluctuations.
I would never willingly debate any premise stated. We are on the same page IMO. We are not alone.
Take care, jws,

Still stacking slowly but surely. When I can get it for about $2 over spot I buy 5 or 10 SAEs.Also a handful of oz s a week on e bay.

I've been holding back on the year-end Mint stuff, keeping some powder dry this time around. Scoping out the possibilities somewhat selectively. I think that 2012 may be an interesting year at the Mint.
I knew it would happen.

Little at a time.
I constantly look for Panda's, Kook's and privy mark Maples if the price is right, also old 1 oz. art bars or unusual old poured bars for close to melt.
I am buying less silver now mainly because I have enough of it and have bought much of it years ago when it was dirt cheap. I will however buy a fair amount if it drops to the $22-24 range and some more if it drops into the high teens.
Seems like there was quite a dip in premiums in November which has completely vanished. Silver Libertads on eBay were routinely in the mid to upper $30s. Now they are routinely in the low to mid $40s. When you can find them at local shows, dealers want a $4-5 premium. I picked up a 1992 1/20 oz gold Libertad for $96 dlvd with gold at $1794 in November. About 10 days ago, a similar piece sold for about $123 dlvd with gold around $1635.
I will just continue to try to keep my powder dry and make disciplined purchases for close to spot when they can be found.

I do strongly believe that pm's will run again but I'm guessing 3rd quarter. My situation at present makes cash king. So for now my powder is dry and I patiently await for that strong gut feeling. Take care. jws
Silver i'm happy with my 90% holdings. Collector stuff I buy 365/24/7 if I need it, want it and/or is priced fairly.
