Went to the Countryside coin show in the morning where I snagged a couple nice bars. Then made it home in time for the Sunday $210 noon buy-in at the Horseshoe. Took over 9 hours (117 players) before taking it down. It is the 2nd time in about 6 months that I have won a $210 buy-in live event. I also got a free seat in an upcoming $500 buy-in event at end of this month as a bonus for the win. It was a good Sunday!

<< <i> Saturday? >>
Last Sunday. Look at the date on his gambling winnings receipt!
The lucky dog!!!!!!!
BTW, did you guys see the 50 oz Engelhard that sold for $3477?
Legit sale or not? I'd be happy to sell both of mine at just $2400 apiece!
Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
<< <i>Congrat's on both accounts! The first place pay off seems skinny. They must pay a lot of places. Well done! MJ >>
14 places paid, with the bottom 4 all paying just $410. I think the casino takes $30 from the $200 "official" buy-in. The extra $10 goes to the dealers in exchange for an extra 1,000 chips in the starting stack....which is 5,000 chips otherwise. So the total prize pool was $19,890 (117 x $170). That puts the 1st place payout at around 30%, which is pretty typical I think.
I'm just questioning the math here:
Gross winnings: $5,736.00
State incoime tax withheld: $196.00
Amount given: $5,740.00
Congratulations, gecko!
I've never seen anything other than coins, coins and more coins there. Maybe someone will have some generic 1 oz'ers, but never anything like that.
I was going to go to that show too lol. Usually do, but couldn't make it this month.
Tha eBay auction doesn't say it was sold, it says it's ended btw.
nice paycheck for 9 hours work too bud
Just a joke, so please no one make a big deal out of it, and I'm sure Phil can take it having the thick skin we've all come to know he wears.
<< <i>Nice job, Phil, both on the game and the bars!

Gross winnings doesnt include my $200 "official" buy-in. The gross prize money was $5,936. My gross winnings....for tax purposes....were $5736.
So $5936 - $196 = $5740.
<< <i>The real question is what are you doing with the winnings?! Congrats! >>
Playing more poker of course!

Just buy $5700 worth of $20 scratchoff tickets. Save the losers as your receipt to counterbalance the winnings. There are bound to be some good winners in there also, so keep doing the same until to hit even or hit the BIG ONE.
Too many positive BST transactions with too many members to list.

Sorry Rich, you are wrong. SOLD for $3477.

I got very lucky in just 1 single spot in the entire tourney. With about 7 players left, and with just 8 big blinds remaining, and on the button, I shoved with A9o against only the blinds. The sb reraised all-in and the bb folded. The sb turned over AKo. I was drawing to a 3 outter and was covered. I hit a miracle 6-7-8 flop, bricked the turn and spiked a 5 on the river to double through.
If not for that extreme bit of luck, I would have finished much worse. But after that modest double-up, I went on a real heater winning like 4 of the next 6 hands or something nuts like that. Put me in great chip position to battle for the win. That was the only real time I got lucky.....I made some HUGE folds near the bubble as well to get to at least the money. I had AdJc and the flop was 3 clubs....Kc-Qc-3c. So I had flopped the 2nd nut flush draw, and a gutter. I led out a pot sized bet and was reraised all-in. After a few minutes, and with still a healthy stack, I mucked face up. The raiser showed the AcKx. That was near the bubble.
