    Honestly, I like it. It is certainly NOT "ugly as sin" in my book.

    There are no ugly Peace Dollars! image Nice coin. Lot of history there in the 1922 making of the Peace Dollar too. As far as grade, I'll take a guess, but I'll preface my comments by saying that I'm a shiny new collector with no real experience in collecting Peace Dollars. But I'm voraciously learning since I'm trying to build a Peace Dollar set myself. So with that said, and without magnification, I would guess...

    AU 58 or Genuine, AU Details?

    The strike in the center of the obverse is above average to me and shows clear separation of strands. To my eye though, the hair directly above the eye shows traces of wear. I am unclear what the light marks are that sweep across Liberty's neck. They are also apparent coming of the chin, mouth, nose, and the lettering in "WE". I am wondering if this was cleaned to remove toning encroaching on the face.

    On the reverse, the shoulder of the eagle looks a tad flat from wear.

    I'm probably totally wrong, but that's my 2 cents. Nice coin. Thanks for sharing!

    Such a lovely strike. The hair detail is amazing. Thick skinned Peace dollars are difficult and only due to the reverse chatter would I give this- based on the photo- an MS65 grade.

    I love the "look" of it, kinda cameo around the head on the Obv,.......

    That coin has character and to me it's a lot more interesting to look at than a colorless coin. Nice obverse strike too. image

    That coin has character and to me it's a lot more interesting to look at than a colorless coin

    I agree with the ugly part.... I do like Peace Dollars.... but I prefer them without environmental damage. image Cheers, RickO

    It's hard to evaluate luster from photos. I'm guessing this coin is well struck but pretty lifeless in hand. Luster hiding under toning is even harder to evaluate from photos.

    Looks better than a 62. I wonder if PCGS lowered the grade a point or two due to negative eye appeal.

    Natural toning is not always beautiful. It is because of this that we are left with fewer and fewer original coins.
