Was there ever a US Mint in New York ?

and why does eBay have this as a choice for mint locations when listing
united states coins ...(and then some sellers actually use it , on say a Buffelo Nickel?

At least 4 or 5 different individuals submitted various die combination patterns, and possibly struck extremely limited
quantities of these pattern coppers in metals other than copper (i.e. silver and/or gold).
Fortunately or Unfortunately, New York (back in 1787) decided to not mint its own copper coinage. Right after that fell
through several of the individuals who submitted their petition patterns joined forces and worked at Machin's Mills just
a little ways up the river from NYC!
...or for a more modern-day mint there is West Point

<< <i>Wasn't the Brasher doubloon also minted in NYC? >>
Yes, Brasher was a silver/goldsmith who worked with another guy named Bailey.
otherwise we'd need Louisiana, NC, CO, NV, etc on the list.
