bought a nice run of Kookaburra.

I've always like the Australian Kookaburra silver coin but have only accumulated 3 until today.

A lady came in with a bunch of silver Eagles and some Kookaburras, when she left I asked the dealer how much for the Kookaburra's and he quoted me $37 a coin. Normally I don't like to pay a $7 premium on silver rounds but these have very attractive changing designs and low mintages so I paid him $740 for 20 diferent coins from 1991-2010 so now I have an almost complete run of Kook's. He kept a 1990 and a 2011 from the group cause he wanted to have some for inventory.image

I like the Kooks over ASEs.

Not willing to pay a premium though.

I love kooks!! BUT, they carry a hefty premium and I still need several to finish my set of them. I've only seen them go for around $45 and up and I'm not paying that much.

They sold out almost as soon as they became available. You might still get them for $10-$15 above spot though.

Very nice! I have about half of them picking one up here and there. Must be nice to get nearly all of them in one swoop. I would be going back for the 91 though.
  • I've got 3 Kook's extra and will try work a trade on the 1990 and 2011 coins he has then all I will need is a 1989 and a 2012 whenever they come out.

    Nice run!
  • I had a book of silver eagles I popped out to put the Kook's in, placed them in by year as the album has the years printed.

Only plan on saving the 1996 eagle in the book as the rest will eventually be Kooks.
  • Well I went back today and purchased the 2011 Kook for $37 and traded a 1 oz. generic round and $20 for the 1990 Kook.
I didn't like paying that much for the 1990 but I bought the rest for $37 so overall it was a good deal. I also made around $5 on the round I traded in so the to boot price wasn't to bad.
Now I need a 1989 and a 2012 to round out the set.
