Perhaps after a few more super novas will get more on the surface although I'd imagine there is exponentially more (by a factor of thousands) in the ground than has been mined.

Saw that chart on kitco earlier. Interesting. Thought it would have been more than 8T worth though.

  • There is enough above ground gold to have everyone on earth own a little over 3/4 troy oz. of gold each. That surprises me, I didn't think there was that much gold.

Interesting how at $1,600.00 per ounce all of the gold mined by humans has a value of slightly over half of the USA national debt.

  • The article says that the U.S. holds 8,100 tons of gold with about 75% of that as "FOREX reserves".

Can someone explain to me what that means exactly?

Not exactly what im looking for Bstat. What I want to know is what does it mean that the U.S. holds 8,100 tons in gold with 75% of that being in forex reserves? Does this mean that the U.S. only owns 25% of that gold outright? Please explain it to me.
