Some nice crust factor on this Bust Half.

relicsncoinsrelicsncoins Posts: 7,860 ✭✭✭✭✭
Just added this piece to the ANACS photo certificate type set. It's a nice original piece. I like the crust factor. What are your thoughts on it? The photos represent the coin fairly well.

Great looking coin. Is that coin the subject of an earlier post?
If so, I voted yes then too. Are you happy with it?

Yes, I actually like it better than in the seller's photographs. I think these photos are a little better representation of the coin.....Or maybe different is the right word.

That's a beautiful O.109. The dark toning is appealing to me eye... it makes the lustrous edge sections all the more welcome. I bet it's a great coin in hand. Congratulations!

That is one of the few problem-free CBHs I've seen in awhile. Most of the ones I see are really messed up, irrespective of the grade, with the exception of some owned by a few specialists I know who collect the series.

From the reverse, it's an AU all right, though by today's standards, imo it's probably a 55.

Yummy. And she looks 53 easy even if luster is blunted by the patina.

Yep. It's a tiny bit darker than I like, but heck, that's nitpicking. (Edit- and that's probably just the pictures in the OP.)

I like the overall look a lot, and the trace iridescence is nice. image

I think 50 is definitely undergraded.

I agree the toning is a bit dark, but it is very pleasant. The wear areas in the picture do not allow me to give a solid PCGS grade suggestion, so I will go with AU 53. In any case, I like the coin. Too bad you plan to keep it away from PCGS graders.

relicsncoins, do you have an opinion of the grade?

Based on the pictures, I would have guessed it could slab in the range of AU-55 to MS-62.

AU55 would be my guess. I will likely submitt it as I do with some of the more expensive coins in the type set.
