I have no shame....do you???
One quarter, one dime, one cent, and two cents......38¢
The way I see it, that's our hobby laying there on the ground or floor.
How can a numismatist/coin collector resist?
I must admit, I've never found a wheat cent or a silver coin on a bendover experience! :#

  • I must admit that the title line is one of the strangest that I've ever read. With regards to the question, I will bend down to pick up change. You never know what could be laying on the ground.
  • Depends who's behind me.

I always pick up change I see on the ground or the floor.... Cheers, RickO
  • Uh..shame? I just have the extra money in my pocket - I left anything else. Really, lets see. Last time I did not bend over to see "what it was" someone else wound up with a bunch of gold jewelry. Before that I found some cash. Before that it was a diamond ring. Shame? Uh-uh. Foolish maybe to pass something up IMHO.

My kids & I save & pick up all the change we find... We've been at it for a little over 3 years now.
To date we've accumulated almost $50 bucks...

  • I do and i taught my kids when they were little, when we went to Shop Rite, that there were always coins that had dropped down on the floor under the registers and that there were a few coins there. Great way to teach how to save!

Yes I pick up change when i see it. Some of my co-workers think its pretty funny and will occassionally toss change on the ground for me to go find.

  • When I bent over to pick up a penny, my wife said "why are you doing that ?"

I told her that penny represents a years interest on a dollar in a standard bank account.

Now every once in a while she'll say... " I found 50 years in your jeans when doing the laundry"

I'm not sure how I should take that image

  • I still remember the agony years ago in my early twenties when at a bar I spotted a quarter........in the urinal. I had a few drinks in me, but not enough to pocket the quarter, though it pained me to leave it there.

After that night, I never played a game of quarters unless I supplied it, from an unc roll. My friends found it strange until I shared the story.

I pick up even 1 kopiok coins on the ground, even though there are like 8:1 cent. Money is money, even in small amounts. It is not waste of time to pick up money ever.

I always pick up coins I see on the ground. As a kid, I found my first Indian Head cent (an 1898) that way over 50 years ago.

Even if I don't have a belt on and show my 'plumber's crack', or 'pencil holder', or whatever else 'it's' called.....I'll stoop over to pick it up. As my buddy says, 'I'm one cent closer to my first million'. Mine goes into a jug for vacation or purchase a new coin for myself. ...never touch it till it's ready to be spent on one or the other, nothing else. I have noticed I'm not doing it as much lately...perhaps there are more 'plumbers' now, what with the economy. I've also noticed the 'Take a penny, Leave a penny' trays are either empty, or gone altogether.
    I'll come up with something.

With a quick tug at the rear belt line i'll be bending over image
  • I do. My best find was a twenty dollar bill. There was no way of knowing who dropped it, so I kept it. When I go to the local Valero, there's almost always a cent or two in the parking spaces. image

    Must be the holiday shoppers.
I picked up a quarter in front of a market, a dime inside and on the way home stopped for gas and found a cent. I was shocked that the cent was a 57-D wheat. image

LOL.... so I got 36 cents Wooo Hoooo!

I will pick up any of those rode kill coins or bills for that matter. Several years ago I cashed in my "road kill" and bought 3 of the gold eagle commems along with several of the silver dollar eagle commems.

I've been picking up change since I was a kid. 2 years ago I started putting "found money" in a jar for my granddaughter. I walk a lot in warm weather and find the most money doing that. I counted it about 6 months ago and there was right at $40 in the jar. I'm guessing I've put $5 or $6 more in since. Mostly from picking up change. About 7 months ago I found a $20 bill while walking. A nice addition.

Found a brown coin while hiking in Sabino Canyon near my house this weekend. It turn out it was a quarter. It was a Wisconsin state quarter, but alas, no extra leaf. If would have been the worst known example if it had been one.
