Looks like Ryan Braun's cards are about to take a hit

According to ESPN he is appealing a 50 game suspension for a failed PED test.

Matt Kemp gotta be pizzed off right now. Never saw this one coming. His rep is saying he's innocent...of course, that's what they all say.
Sad really!

What he said,

I know they won't revoke it because it would complicate other related matters, but in a perfect world they would strip him of the MVP.

Do you really know he was clean? Football, Track, Baseball, etc. steriods became common place right around Arnold's MR universe campaign. So from mid 70's on most everyone was probably using something to enhance performance. Some got caught some did not. Facts of life.

In all seriousness, I agree with you Shane. I liked Braun too. As a Mets fan, he reminded me of the way David Wright plays the game, just better.

I honestly only remember Wright being out after being beamed by Cain which I was at that game and for a little bit after running into Ike Davis last year. Other than those two times, I thought he was pretty durable. Now if we were talking about Reyes.

I do think it is a tad bid hypricritical of the HOF voting process. Gaylord Perry was a known cheater, Ty Cobb had the sportsmanship of a rabid dog, greenies in the 70's, racisim, etc... Just saying, has the PED known players that have sure fire HOF credentials, really committed a higher sin than some of the players in the Hall now?
BTW, I am a rabid Reds and Pete Rose fan. I don't beleive Rose should ever be allowed in the Hall.
Just my rambling thoughts on a Saturday night.

T206 Set - 300/524
In my heart of hearts, I want to believe that there is a clean superstar out there, but I doubt it. I'm more more inclined to believe that if you pulled back enough layers, you'd find that every player in professional sports is dirty. Yes, every single player. It's likely always been that way, and it probably always will be... as long as money/revenues keep growing and driving the sports world. Sports was pure and clean when we were all children, because money wasn't involved... once you make money the prevailing factor, people are going to do whatever it takes to give them the edge!
This is disappointing to say the least. Most players take supplements but why is it so hard to do a little research before you take something? There are steroid precursers and testosterone enhancers readily available at GNC and other stores. This stuff is perfectly legal but if you are a pro athlete you WILL test positive if you take this crap. In my opinion, Braun and other players are just lazy when it comes to thoroughly checking out the supplements that they take. No excuse for this to happen. It's sad that some players can be so careless about the stuff they put in their bodies. What a damn fool!!!
<< <i>Pretty soon there will be no one around to put into the H.O.F. because of the "Steroids" era.
Sad really!
Paul. >>
na theyll have a steroids committee and pick only people during this time so Sosa,McGwire, and Arod will be first ballot
who is trying to take their spot in the big leagues.
Ryan is just part of the current baseball culture. Yes, baseball back in the 70's was much better, when Manny Sanguillen and
Roberto Clemente played baseball just as exciting in little bodies as puffed up Albert Puljos and the puffy Molina brothers have
done in drug infested bodies.
Ryan, try this one, it works better:
"I fear God too much to take steroids."
<< <i>I see Braun is appealing the test...but he is going about that the wrong way. As his defense, he is saying he didn't "knowingly" take them.

I really think that you are Fandango's alterego. You have as much hatred for Pujols as Fandango loves him. You are just as obsessed as he is.
If someone posted a message saying, "The weather today is a perfect day for baseball", you would come right back and say something like, "I'm not so sure it is a perfect day because Pujols is a cheater". You need to get a life dude. I don't think I have ever seen a post by you that didn't mention Pujols.

Really? I thought that was the case with Jim Rice? Or Ryan Howard for me? Or maybe you don't know that because you ony read Pujols threads, so who is obsessed with him...hmmmm, LOL!
I don't hate Pujols..... when I am posting about Pujols's steroid use and his ridiculous defense, I am also making fun of his legion of fans who believe in all that garbage, and believe like he is the only guy above that, LOL.
Yeah, you will come back and say, "whaaa, but he never tested positive." Which is more evidence of wearing blinders considering the actions of MLB and its lies in the whole PED use debacle.
When I bring religion into it, you think it is ridiculous. I agree, it is ridiculous to use religion as evidence of steroid use or non use. Who does that??? LOL.

Seeing that Pujols is my favorite player and the Cardinals being my favorite team, I would naturally read more Pujols threads than for other players. It goes no further than that with me. I am not wearing blinders. I hope he is innocent of PED's, but I can't say that for sure. Hoping vs believing that he absolutely has not used is two TOTALLY different things. By the way, I contribute much more to this board than Pujols. I ignore 90% of the Pujols hatred anyway. Sometimes, though, I chime in.

This is true. I always remember 2000 because it had a direct affect on the legacy of my childhood hero, Frank Thomas. The vote was very close (even more than the Braun/Kemp vote) and then it came out that Giambi had been juicing. While, technically, I don't believe Frank was the best choice that year either (I think Pedro Martinez had the best season) he was only 30 pts-ish back and had a great comeback year after a preceding season and a half of injuries. Some have implicated Martinez though too, so who knows?

Fair enough.
The whole thing with MLB and the PED is really funny. First the players and management flat out deny any use whatsover. Then evidence comes to the contrary and so they come with the "I didn't knowingly take any."
MLB players union and Ownership have zero credibility. Not a shred. They made a sham of the whole thing.
As a result, EVERY player is guilty, unless they prove they are clean.
they need to allow the most stringent IOC testing, allow blood and urine samples to be kept for years so that they can catch the stuff that is currently undetected, and it has to be all 100% independent testing with no inteference from owners and union. When that day happens, then some credibility would be allowed to creep back in. Players and fans that don't like this thinking, you made that bed, now you have to sleep in it. Yes fans...because by evidence of these boards, with fans stupidity in wearing blinders helps them continue to lie to you all the time.
