Roll searching aside, it was about a year ago during a 2AM run to a 7-11. Cashier was too lazy to open the safe to break open a roll of quarters so he gave me a half dollar instead. Just so happened to be a 1964.

On average, I'd say once or twice a year. I've never gotten a silver quarter, only dimes and a half dollar that one time mentioned above.

got a 1961 D Washington in change last week. I'm seeing more silver in change - sign of hard times?

For 11 years I'd find silver quarters on a weekly basis due to having a bulk candy vending business. I still remember my best find was $3.75 in one location and that was almost 20 years ago. I miss that sound the silver quarters would make when I'd dump the coin bags into the coin counter. Over the 11 years I've acquired almost $240 in silver quarters. Then 7 years working for a video game company I've picked up almost $60 in silver quarters. I'm $1.25 short of completing my 30th full roll and it's been that way for the last 3 years since quitting that job.

I got a 1961 dime two days ago and a silver quarter about 2 weeks before that, and before that is was another dime like 4 or 5 months before that but I go through all the change in my till at work. I can here a silver coin if it justs bumps something when one shows up.

From actual change only one dime last year at McDonalds, other than that in the last 10 years I've only got a few war nickels.

From some half dollar rolls I got to search I found some 40% halves and 2 90% halves.

Usually it's a silver dime....I'd say one or two a year. Not sure if I've found any in 2011 though....been using the 'ol CC a lot.

Last week doing roll searching I got two 40% halves and 13 war nickels. Last time I got silver in change was this summer, my son begged me to drive him to 7-11 after work to get a drink and I relented. When he handed me the change a 1961 dime stuck out.

Roll searches aside, getting silver coins in change is extremely rare in my neck of the woods.
In the last several years I got exactly 1 - a Washington quarter.

Its usually one or two dimes a year from change. My wife is tuned into the look of silver (if not the 1964 date) and spots as many as I.

My best suceess has been checking the discard bin of coin counting machines. That will net one silver quarter most years.

Not a single one in the last 35 years, that's since 1976, until last week, when I got a 1943P war nickel among supermarket change.

Never it seems. I'm sure I have but I cannot remember when the last time was. Have to depend

I found a silver dime about a month ago. Was very excited.

I always check my change for silver, esp. hoping for a silver quarter. No luck on that score in a loooong time.

For some reason I always have dreams about finding silver in change, so I can't remember if I ever do find any or not.

4, maybe 5 times a year. I do have the advantage of looking through the register at the family businesstwice a week. War Nickels & dimes, but rarely quarters.
