Received my gift yesterday. I'm still waiting for a card I won from ebay to ship my gift. I will ship no later than this saturday regardless if I get the card from ebay by then.
My car was totaled last night -- but the pacakge had already been dropped off at my shippers. My shipper contacted me because he saw the FB post I made and I explained to him about the whole sceaniario.
He will be adding on his own, a couple of more suprises for my "victim". So when my victim gets the package sent from Allen, TX -- there should be some extra material in there.
Please keep me informed

Rich - I hope all is well. A crunched car is easier to deal with than broken bones.
I run the Secret Santa on Blowout Forums. I took it over after the wonderful experiences I had participating in the SS here.
I know how much time and effort is put into running these things and you will never have 100% of the people happy 100% of the time.
So yesterday I get a PM from someone who received their gift and opened it.
He then listed what he got and was complaining that the person didn't take the time and make the effort to get what was on his list.
Now this is a $25 grab. Nothing big. Included with the various autographs and game used cards (2 of which WERE on his list) were 2 retail boxes of topps BB packs and 2 factory sealed sets 2009 & 2010 Topps Baseball. So while the sender did not perfectly match the list he still send well over $100 actual cost of items.
The reason I do this every year is so that I can give something to a fellow collector. Ya it is great to get something in the mail around the holidays from someone but the giving is what I get the thrills from. I was very excited about the person I received this year and last and really enjoyed that I was able to give them something in hopes that they enjoy it.
The holidays are a great time to give back and just be happy.

I think this sums it all up, and I couldn't agree more. I don't have any other collectors in the family, and none of my close friends collect. So I had a blast shopping for my Secret Santa buddy, and I'm already looking forward to next year's exchange.

Mike,
Thanks for the offer - I hope I don't need to take you up on it though.
Got my item from ebay today. Shipped it out (along with a few other assorted goodies) this afternoon for a Thursday delivery (according to USPS). Hope he likes it.
I felt a little let down that I didn't make it to my collection for the gift I picked out earlier. I did have quite a few cards to choose from with me though. Ironically it might turn out for the best because it's difficult to know exactly what to get someone who has specific collecting goals. And I might have been lucky enough to gift something matching their interest, but kind of off the radar (maybe/hopefully).
When you stress over how well your gift will be recieved with no cares at all about what you recieve yourself (Because you know you'll love it anyway). It's easy to know that giving is the true gift.
