Home Precious Metals

Was at my bank today...

picking up 4 of the eight boxes on half dollars that I had ordered. Just as I was about to leave, the teller says, "I have 8 rolls of half dollars here that smoebody brought in this week. Do you want them?". Of course I did and when I got home, they were the first rolls i looked through.

found:

160 90% silver <======No Bull

I couldn't believe it! 153 Walkers and 7 Frankies.
Keep looking, they are out there!

When depositing rolls, my bank always made us write the account number on each roll (you know, in case one was a coin short, or had a washer or foreign coin in place of one of the coins) and boy, we heard about it if anything was "light"

Of course, if a roll was a coin or two heavy, or contained silver or other goodies, they notified their "preferred customers" instead of us depositors image

great score, but by the same token, too bad for the person who didn't know any better than to turn it in.

  • Great catch!!

Find it hard to believe someone would save them for 50 years and not know what they had.

Somehow the word "stolen" comes to mind.

You would be surprised how often things like that happen.
Older people bring them in for face value. 3 or 4 months ago
    I scored about 4-5 rolls myself 2-3 were 90% and 2 were 40% IIRC.
Also in that lot was an original roll of Bi Ike dollars and a roll of bi halves.

I've received quarter rolls like that too.

    No, I don't work in a bank.

    Good for you.

I got eight rolls of silver halves from my bank too . . .

My Adolph A. Weinman signature :)

  • I just hope they were not stolen from someone.

Was at the bank the other day and this young attactive girl was depositing some half dollars and dollars coins.

Her no good boyfriend was sitting out in the car.

I tried to buy them but the bank sealed them up and had to send them for counting at their main branch. The idiots at the bank are to dumb to count about $50 worth of coins.

    I was not happy.
