Do other people collect like this?

When I was a kid I collected types...mostly buffalo nickels, indian cents, morgans, etc.
Just recently started collecting again, and my approach is to get a single, nice example of each type of coin I like.
It seems like most people around here are collecting type sets...just curious if anyone else is taking my approach.

Just curious if people think like this, or if the general desire is to try and get all the dates in a type you like.
That is what I eventually want to do.

<< <i>I think what your saying is you want to put together a highest grade you can afford Type Set.

I guess that is true
And basically just buy the coins that I fall in love with, instead of trying to find a super expensive key date to complete a set that I can only find in vg
1) I still get starry eyed when I see a pretty coin and buy it
2) I need to do a highest grade set in many areas such as
A) US type
US Hard Times
US Merchant
C) Russian
D)Hungarian
So I think it going to take quite sometime to complete, and I am a very impatient girl

Your #1 is my biggest problem
I'll third that
Most importantly ... collect what YOU like, not what others tell you to collect.

What you are collecting is a Like Set. The composition of a Like Set is subjective and will vary greatly from collector to collector. It is probably the purest form of building a collection, as it is totally independent of external guidelines.

I don't know...anything could change. I had at least a 10 year gap where I "hated" collecting coins...and in the past couple months I have the fever back after buying some investment gold...so anything is posible
Thanks for all the input everyone!
