Ocean City coin show

I attended the coin show in Ocean City, Maryland today for the first time. It was a friendly, well-organized show at the Convention Center with light, walk-in traffic. The facility is modern, well-lit, and spacious with easy access and plenty of parking. I made four new contacts mostly from the Virginia Beach area and was able to conduct quite a bit of business. Dealers had mixed reviews about their success but seemed upbeat. Thanks go to Carl Ostiguy for continuing to organize small, successful 40-table events in the Maryland area.

With best regards,

I grew up in the Rehoboth Beach, Delaware vicinity. What I wouldn't have given to have had a coin show that close to me when I was kid in the 1960s! The nearest a show ever came to me was when a promoter held one in Salisbury, Maryland in the spring of 1966. I remember one of the dealers had a high grade 1793 Wreath Cent. He wanted $2,000 for it. Today that piece would be worth at least $30 to $40 thousand easy.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
