Not a laughing matter... but a couple of good laughs in the thread.... LOTS of water helps... but you have to go through it to finally get relief. Cheers, RickO
Back on topic here, of coins we wished we had passed on - I won't admit the one, the one I paid too much for, that is holdered, but shouldn't be. I will quietly let it go to Heritage signature auction early next year.
<< <i>it's either that or surgery and they rarely ever do surgery for these since they seem to either pass or can be broken up via ultrasound and those pieces (hopefully) pass.
the painful part is between the kidney and the bladder. The ureter is just not large enough for even small stones.
As mentioned already, they can take days to pass, you are in pain until you barf and the barfing doesn't help the pain go away, and the intensity of the pain is like childbirth. It's nothing like it is portrayed in the movies or on tv. It is much worse. >>
i'll just add some thoughts as I think of it if the thread continues...this may seem hard to believe but when the pain and bleeding is there, it usually means the stone is trying to move or is moving slightly. It really does help to do some very "moderate" jumping so to speak to get the stone moving downward...be very, very careful...I mean ya don't want to rupture an achilles tendon, blow out a knee or hip joint...but I find doing some moderate jumping and body movements on a rug to cushion the jumping a bit, does definitely help. Most think this "jumping" doesn't help because the stone may be still stuck and not moving...but the key is getting it to move in as large an increment as possible each time it does move, and the olive oil treatment helps greatly to lessen the pain.
Note that a stuck stone can become inflammed and cause great pain as well, but I've found that the stuck stone is slightly uncomfortable but doesn't cause any significant pain...In my opinion, the pain and inflammation of a stuck stone is often caused caused by "carelessness." Most don't realize that stones can grow while in the ureter because subsequent smaller stones can attach to it and solidify. So when you've got a stuck stone, you really need to completely, and I mean completely, change your diet to a total kidney stone diet which can be found on various websites, so at least the stuck stone won't grow any larger, and gives your body the best chance to pass it.
The one post is right about the long term effects of beer...and I've never tried this, but when the stone is moving as just mentioned, drinking a few beers could very well be helpful to move the stone downward, basically because it increases urine flow. But again, I've done extensive reading and research on this, and I believe the olive oil/lemon juice formula is the best treatment for a stone which has a chance to pass...plus lemon juice and olive oil are two of the best foods a body can enjoy...it's great type of body flush in any event anyway, besides for kidney stones.
And don't fear the bleeding...an excellent urologist told me it is basically impossible (paraphrase)...to hemorrhage from kidney stone bleeding. Well, that's all I can think of for now...perhaps another post may trigger more info that I remember. >>
Thanks for the advise, it has not moved in 7 hours but when it does I am on the floor, the fear it might has me staying home and I really need this to go away!

I didn't reread my posts, but do the olive oil/lemon juice thing twice a day if necessary. On an empty stomach when going to sleep at night, drink it...it seems like it would upset the stomach but it doesn't bother me at all, except for the very nasty taste. Drink it sort of slow so it doesn't hit the stomach all at once. Again, it tastes horrible and if it's almost too much to stand, you can swish some honey around your mouth before ya drink it. Don't drink any water with it, ya want it to be as concentrated as possible in the body. Remember to eat light, a kidney stone type diet, and you could drink the formula again around noon, later have a light dinner, and again do it at night. Bananas are great for a meal or snacks...again...the internet lists kidney stone diets...definitely try to cut out all fats, cut down on protein, and stick to vegetables and fruits which are friendly to non-buildup of kidney stones...remember, ya don't want to make the situation worse by having the stone grow. And of course drink lots of water during the day - I prefer bottled water. I have read where distilled water is especially good because it absobs all excess things and enables the body to pass it out without a buildup on the stone...but I've never gotten around to trying that because the process as stated worked so well for me, and I don't believe distilled water is healthy for you, although for a few days until the stone passes I guess it couldn't hurt much.
I've read where the lemon juice can help dissolve the stone, but to keep a long explanation short, it doesn't work that way...the lemon juice is just helpful to increase urine to help flush out the stone. And the straight olive oil by itself is to me impossible to drink it tastes so dam bad. The "formula" still tastes awful...but it is drinkable.
What may happen to you...it happened to me is you'll start urinating what they call mucous threads, and it scarred the chit out of me when it first happened...basically these are "threads" that the body is using, mucous membranes to try to get rid of the stone...the mucous threads could get heavy,,,sometimes dozens of them in one urination, but don't fear them...the threads happened before I discovered the olive oil/lemon juice formula, and again...not only did the pain subside substantially, but the mucous threads stoppped...I guess maybe the lubricating properties of the olive oil eliminated the bodies need to create the mucous threads.
Also, a hot bath once or twice a day with very hot water, I think is good because in my opinion the heat likely may help expand the ureter every so slightly, and every little bit helps...at the very least the heat is comforting. I also used a heating pad during much of the day as well at the spot of the stone, with the same idea that expanding the ureter ever so slightly has gotta help move the stone.
Remember...get that formula in your system...sorry if it doesn't work for you, but it was like a miracle medicine for me, and I think i mentioned this, it has since worked multiple times for me extremely well. Hate to tell you this but you will very likely, if not definitely get another stone, might be ten years from now or could be sooner...I got one another one about 4 days later from the initial one passing...but the formula zapped it out in around 18 hours almost pain free. Then another one about two months later....and sporadically once about every 6 - 9 months since then. But I do not hardly fear them...of course one day there may be one which is absolutly too dam big to pass, and if that day comes then I'll have to deal with it. Hopefully the formula will always work.
If you Google this formula on the internet, you'll see that it has also helped a tremendous amount of people out there. Why it is not that well known I don't know, and it took me months to find it because of course on the internet while there is much information, there is a lot useless misinformation as well, and I had nothing to guide me. The pattern you're experiencing to me suggests a stone that is moving and can pass...and hopefully it will ASAP.
No pictures, just sympathy... I had a few in earlier years I had to be hospitalized for and wish I'd had them BEFORE I had children - labor would've been a breeze. I've had several in the last 2 years, stopped running to the ER for pain meds after awhile, and wait it out with Vicodin & Advil. Not as helpful as Dilaudid but the best I can self-medicate. Drink lots of water, hopefully that's still passing through. If that blocks closed, get to the ER! Hope it's over soon.
Edited to add... people say to drink alot of water when you have one, but the important thing is to drink at least 8 glasses EVERY day, above all the coffee and other things you drink. I try to drink alot of water but there are times when I just plain forget, don't feel thirsty. A couple weeks of that is when I have trouble. Dilute all the garbage that builds up in the kidney, it needs flushed constantly... good prevention. And cut out soda completely - it's only poison to the body. If they've tested previous stones to see what they're made of, that's helpful. If not and you are straining your outtake and catch it, take it to your doctor and have him/her analyze it. They can be from excess calcium, many different minerals, etc. Good to know.
Have bought and sold on BST, many references available when asked.
Hopefully it's getting to the end of your ureter and nearly to the bladder, as in this patient (borrowed from Wikipedia).

Hey, I was 35.
Funny to read all the "how to's".
Unbelievable to think something the size of a pinhead can cause so much distress and pain, but it surely does!
Beer is my only how to get rid of it, that I can think of.
