2 more coins to complete my "WHY" collection

I need two more coins to finish my xf45 2 1/2 gold indian collection , got the 1927 tonight on fleabay . Why do I call it my "WHY" collection ? Because anyone I tell says why an xf 45 when a few dollars more you can get AU50. I say why not , and au50 is a dime a dozen .. try to collect the xf45 .. more of a challenge. Anyway , I need the 1911-d which I see all the time, funds are the issue , and the 1929 ,which according to the population report there are 6 .

I put this set together back in the 1980s. I'm afraid my goal was to get everything in AU, not EF. Still it took a while. My goal back then was to pay an average of $200 per coin with the exception of the 1911-D, which would, of course, a good deal more. It was fun set to assemble and is a fun set to display. Even though the coins are farily common, and "old gold" set does look impressive.

Yea, I will agree. That will take some doing. These coins did not circulate that much, and collectors had little reason not to turn in the well used ones during the Gold Surrender period. There were limits on how many quarter eagles you could retain, not that I've about strict enforcement of the law.
