Met a guy at the bank today and gave him $5,500.

braddickbraddick Posts: 23,965 ✭✭✭✭✭
He sold me a one ounce 2008 Buffalo along with two 2008 Canadian one ounce Maple Leafs.
He was offered $5,400 on Friday so when he offered them to me for the $5,500. he felt comfortable selling.

As I buyer I feel alright. Not a swinging deal, but a bit of a discount I suppose.
Any opinions?

you paid more than my local B&M dealer would pay. The good thing for his customers is that he sells as spot (sometimes a touch less to his firends), the bad thing for the sellers is that he buys at 10% back of spot. That's his margins and that's what he sticks with.

So, you are saying the gold bugs can blame you for buying gold and causing the drop? image

I have a Bond Arms derringer amd they look different from this one. The barrel on this one has Davis Industries.

Braddick, that's a lot of gold to be rattling around in your boot. Doesn't it make for discomfort while walking?

Why would you not buy these from a legitimate dealer? Despite the danger to yourself in carrying cash to meet a stranger, there are
many fakes of these items that require a specific gravity test to detect.

Why would you not buy these from a legitimate dealer?

    Perhaps:

    - He knew the individual involved? (Note he was offered them by the other guy, he did not make the offer to a previously unknown entity)
    - He didn't want to pay $150-200 more for the exact same items from a dealer?
    - He felt the reward outweighed the risk?
