After seeing it a couple times at a friends house on satelite, on the History channel I went and download complete season 3 and 4, was very interesting seeing all those things coming in and out the door, I just wished these guys stumbled upon more cards!!! Im gonna start getting this pickers and storage wars going, what do you guys think of the signature expert on pawn stars? Have you seen him make any mistakes?
Wow that's really cool! Thanks for the link. I bet this show will be a big hit, and who knows we might see a spike in Sports cards and sports related items!

As long as cards are part of it. From the description, it sounds like it might just be memorabilia like autographs and jerseys.
On Pawn Stars recently, a guy brought in five sharp 1967 Topps Pete Rose fakes. You could tell just by looking at them that they weren't right. The guys at Pawn Stars told him they were fakes and he got angry because "he's had them in his garage for years." As Rick said - that just means years ago he bought fake cards! The bigger question, though, is why someone would take the time to make fake '67 Rose cards?

What do think Rose RC's go for in near mint and better condition?
Collecting PSA graded Steve Young, Marcus Allen, Bret Saberhagen and 1980s Topps Cards. Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.

1967 is Pete Rose RC? I was under the impression that his rookie year card was much earlier?

Yes, you are right...but they are still not cheap cards. There have been a lot of 80s rc's faked....not that you really have to question. But even then I suppose a fake sheet would only cost a $1 or so to print.

I saw the beginning where they were looking at the cards. It's hard to tell condition but the owner said I hope to get $1500.00 for the lot. I'm not an expert on vintage cards but with the Mantle & other stars from the 50's & 60's I'd think it'll bring that much at least. I have the show DVR'd so I can watch the rest tomorrow.
Its good that cards get alot of run on these type of shows. This is very important for the health of our hobby. PSA/topps/Beckett/etc... should pay for this type of product placement.
With that said their expert didn't know squat. Way overgraded the card with paper loss. And as mentioned above only has the old Beckett magazine definition/scope of knowledge looking at the Satchell.
some of the cards looked decent but you couldn't get a good look at them
Also I got a chuckle out of the graphic they had saying essentially that rookie cards were generally worth more because the player wasn't well known their first year so the card companies didn't make as many for that player.
Always looking for 1993-1999 Baseball Finest Refractors and1994 Football Finest Refractors. saucywombat@hotmail.com
Not sure if it's been said as I didn't read all posts. In regards to Storage Wars, I am very skeptical of the amount of profit they say the buyers make. I remember an episode in which one of the lockers was full of sports cards and autographed baseballs. None of the baseball autographs were authenticated and the card shop they took them to get appraised quoted prices about double what they actually sold for.
was watching the Gallery 63 show yesterday and couldn't believe they sold a number of cards for more than $2500....I realize there was a 56 Mantle and Paige rc in the bunch but thought that the price was too high......
I was surprised the expert said $800 or $900. Unless those cards were really low grade they were worth more than that. There was a Unitas Rookie, 56 Mantle, 54 Mays, 53 Paige and several other 50s, 60s and 70s stars. $2500 seemed a little high to me, but it looked to me like at least $1500 give or take a little based on condition.
I think he was the same guy that looked at the PSA 6 Jordan.
I love Mike and Frank on Pickers. The NASCAR Hall of Fame pick was the best. However, I know for a fact that the HoF did not give them money to pick. Still very cool to see all that old memorabilia.
FYI: There are sports items on both episodes of Pawn Stars tonight.
Pawn Stars Episode: Mile High Club PREMIERE NEW The guys radar locks onto an L39 Albatros fighter jet; a guy slides in with a bat and glove signed by Babe Ruth; Rick and the Old Man are presented with a set of antique glass target balls from the 1800s.
Pawn Stars Episode: Patriot Games NEW The guys check out a 2004 Super Bowl ring; a guy brings in a diary written during the Civil War; a poster from the movie ``Bullitt'' comes roaring into the shop.
I love these...how 'bout some more with Corey or Chum!
Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
watched storage wars and saw a "find" of $700 in a las vegas casino poker chips, which they cashed in. to say these lockers are seeded is an understatement. my guess would be the owners of the storage facility in real life go thru the lockers before any auctions.
If you were going to seed lockers with valuable items; it would be much easier and safer to do so after it has been bought at auction.
You have no risk of jail time, a greatly reduced risk of accidentally destroying other valuable stuff in the process of seeding it (you have plenty of time and adequate light, and as many people as you need), and no risk that someone else will win the auction and get the valuable items you put inside.
Most storage lockers do contain property that's rather valuable - people don't pay to rent space for something that's not worth a lot to them. Unfortunately for the buyers of lockers, often it's property that would be expensive to replace but very difficult to resell (e.g., mattresses).
Episode: Three Pawn Night NEW The guys check out a Babe Ruth baseball card from his days with the Boston Red Sox; Corey eyes an officer's artillery sword from the War of 1812; Corey and Chumlee are offered a keyboard used by the band Three Dog Night. 10:00 - 10:31 PM History
Pawn Stars pass a lot of baseball card stuff. They are very uneducated. But most of these shows are over priced on almost anything, but people pay over because of the show as well.
I saw on Storage Wars the hairy-backed dude (forget the name) found a bunch of baseball memorabilia. I spotted a raw Jeter SP rookie in there. A nice collection for what they paid for the unit though. Lots of signature balls as well and an All-Star Basketball signed.
Friday night is dedicated and revolves around Gold Rush. My kids love it! They call it the problem show. Lol. Always stuff going wrong... My 6 year old son just wrote a story and he wrote a bit about the show.
