The ever-lovely Julia Tyler, now $2199 at MCM in MS70, continues to give me hope for the series.

Ironic it was the one of the lowest mintage and subsequently, the most appealing, in duality.

You are right about that Ian!

Except for a lagging few, the prices have accelerated on the Gold Spouses. Who woulda known!

Unlike other gold issues, as of late, one can loudly wonder what the AGE's will do for this year? C'mon short sell.

A complete set, once it's all over, displayed nicely, would be a show-stopper. You almost need two complete sets to show the obverse and reverse at the same time.

Both Tyler spouse designs are very attractive.

Is it worth buying to flip? How do you tell if it will be desireable? Some I see go for 850, and some for 1150. Why are some more desireable than others? How will this one be?

You can't predict where lighting will strike.

Collect what you like and what you want, hopefully, in the end, your collection will be worth something.


My opinion is they are not flippable, unless you have major cash to lay out. The short time upside is small, hundred bucks, maybe two if you're lucky and get 70's, after ALL expenses.

Just to get in the game, say 10 Unc and 10 Proof, you'll need $20,000, and that's only 10 each, if you don't get a good batch, you send them back, but the Mint takes a lot longer to refund that kind of money. So then what, you order 10 more of each. $20,000...and don't forget the next spouse is coming out next month....that's another $20,000.....

Long term upside is better, but how many of each spouse, Unc and Proof, can you hold at $1000 each? Just getting 2011 from the Mint will cost $8000 for both Unc and Proof.

Thus, collect what you like.

I got 3 Johnson Uncs and 2 proofs. I sent one proof and all the uncs to PCGS for grading since I have mainly look for unc 70's and leave the proofs raw mostly. Well, par for the course, all three uncs are 69 and the the one proof was a 70. Funny how things go in the grading world.

Wouldn't you say a bunch of moderns have slowed down a bit because of the economy? Is anything moving fast and furious today?
