I'll be there for at least a couple of days.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

Sugestion: Attend by Friday! Most dealers will bail then.

This is another show that should not be.

Even PCGS bailed as have several major dealers. Ok, not everyone wants to see the big boys, but they will attened shows when they feel there is even a slight chance of decent activity. The big guys love to buy from the smaller locals. So it sounds like they are voting this show a no go already. Lets hoep they are wrong!

July is meant for vacations, not coin shows!

Can't get there until Saturday. image Is it gonna be that bad? Maybe the big boys won't cherry pick the locals so I can? image

I went to the Clearwater show this weekend on Saturday also. Almost went on Sunday, but "pushed" to go on Saturday. Glad I did because by the time I got around to the center of the bourse some of the dealers were leaving the show! Didn't get to see what they had. Didn't get to buy from them. Hate it when they do that.

Steve, it is open on Saturday and Sunday. After Saturday, coins shows tend to become ghost towns though. Get there EARLY Saturday and you will be fine. Sunday would be BAD! For the Clearwater show I went on Thursday which was great and then since I was bored I went on Sunday. Sunday, the parking lot was half empty and so was the show.

Some dealers will bail on Friday, sure....but not HALF like they do when Saturday at 3:00 PM hits.

Great info. If you're there, I'll be there Saturday (early) with my 10-year old daughter. Say Hello.

Think the 100. early bird fee is a bit excessive for this show. I'll look at lots today, and go in with the general population on Thursday.

Why do dealers leave before people can arrive?

If dealers leave Thursday who will be selling coins over the weekend?

Was at Heritage lot viewing today. Will be back tomorrow for more lot viewing and to work the floor.

Shot this picture about 1 p.m. Wednesday from the 2nd floor looking down over the tables. I was on my way to view auction lots. Dealer set up had not begun yet. Looks like it will be about half the size of the normal January FUN shows. Oh yea...$13 for parking in the West parking lot. I wasn't too happy about that.

I plan on stopping by the PCGS table 12:00 PM if anyone wants to say hi...that might be a good place to do it. I will likely be wearing glasses, a black backpack, tan cargo shorts and a horizontally striped blue and white polo. Stop by to introduce yourselves! image

I don't think they leave on Thursday but many bail on Saturday which I understand
what with the long trips some have to make.

Lot viewing today as well. Here ya go Greg, this pic taken a little later in the day. Agree about the parking, and the 100. earlybird fee is excessive for this show IMHO.

DavE: <<This is another show that should not be.>>

It should be in Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale or Miami. Please read:

The Summer FUN Convention, with a preview of dimes and quarters in the auction

DavE (Tuesday, 1:46 PM): <<Even PCGS bailed as have several major dealers.>>

KeyMan64 (Tuesday, 3:39 PM): << I plan on stopping by the PCGS table 12:00 PM. If anyone wants to say hi, that might be a good place to do it.>>

Is DavE saying that there will be zero PCGS employees at the PCGS table? Why then would KeyMan64 be going there? Is it really true that PCGS and “several major dealers” were not present at this event?

Additionally, anyone who bids on gold coins in the auction is invited to provide me with information. Indeed, I would appreciate it. I am writing about gold coins in this auction. I will not mention the name of a collector without his or her explicit permission.

Also, as I said in another thread, Kris Oyster of DGSE/Superior reports that he is “having a great show” and has sold almost all the coins that DGSE/Superior brought to the event.

For the record PCGS is in attendance. Diana and Alisha are the reps at the table.

The post office did now show and Legend is already gone but almost everybody else is still there.
