I tried to sell today

WeissWeiss Posts: 9,941 ✭✭✭✭✭
Feeling like I wanted to have a little more cash on hand than I have for a very long time. Thought about it last night. Slept on it, felt the same when I woke up. Saw metals begin to move. So to the vault to get out two of my least favorite pieces: 1924 St Gaudens in AU condition but cleaned, and my 100 oz Englehard silver. Figured I'd get about $5k.

My dealer was closed.

Wednesday seems to be the day around here that they all are closed for the most part, except for the ones that are serious about what they are doing.
I call the others part timers. They work M T Th F 10:30-4:30 and Sat from 10:30-2:00.
How in the hell is someone who works for a living ever supposed to make it to the coin shop with those kind of hours?
There's a few that are open M-Sat 10:00-6:00. Needless to say that they get most of my business.

You guys need to move out of the sticks. Either that or take the stagecoach to the county seat and exchange it there. Pick up some supplies and a little something something for the Mrs at the haberdashery/hardware store while you are thereimage

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......

There are about 8-10 around here, that i deal with. There are a few more but they are on my blacklist for being cheats. There's a huge monthly coin show (80 tables usually) that is not unreasonable for me to drive to, and ocasionally some auctions that have some coins. I guess I'm lucky.

If we to have to move, how many local coin stores in the area would be considered. Man...I really am a nerd image

I tried to sell again today. Closed. No sign.

My dealer's getting up there, had some health issues. And he closes when he wants from time to time for vacations and/or bridge tournaments.

    I hope he's ok.

He must have been in a really good (and generous) mood after winning that bridge tournament.image
